World Day of Prayer - Building on a Strong Foundation
Women of the Republic of Vanuatu (located in the South Pacific Ocean) have prepared this years service, which we had hoped to hold back in March. Whilst some churches decided to hold a mini-version online, we in Tunbridge Wells postponed our service to 1st October and it will be held at United Emmanuel Church, Mount Ephraim at 11am. All are welcome to join in this global ecumenical service.
We will be holding a meeting to prepare for this service on Thursday 16th September at 2.30, again all are welcome to come along. The service requires participation and the more fellowships represented the better. Please contact Helen at revhelenurc@aol.co.uk for further information.
Tunbridge Wells Youth for Christ Youth Centre
We are looking forward to welcoming as many of our supporters as possible into our new centre this summer.
There are still places available during our open week 23rd - 27th August.
The sessions are Monday 2 - 4pm, Tuesday 10 - 12noon, Wednesday 2 - 4pm and 6:30 - 8:30pm and Friday 10 - 12 noon.
We would particularly love to welcome those of you who work during the day to the evening session - you can drop in any time during the sessions.
We would ask that you book a free ticket hereso we know how many to expect each session. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member who might be interested. Parents of secondary aged young people might like to see what is available for their children.
TW Youth for Christ Seeks Volunteers for After School Youth Café
Tunbridge Wells Youth for Christ have just opened The Youth Centre on Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells. The Centre will be open after school, Monday to Friday, for young people to drop in for cakes and drinks, games and craft. Our prayer space will be open and Wednesday’s session will focus on mental well-being and resilience. We are looking for Christian volunteers to:
Make drinks and serve cakes as the young people come in
Chat with the young people and build appropriate relationships with them
Play games with them (table football and Uno are popular)
Organise and demonstrate craft activities
Support them using the prayer space
We are also looking for people who bake to provide homemade cakes for the young people. If you are able to help on one or more days, or offer cakes, please email Karen Cox, Centre Director on centredirector@tunbridgewells.yfc.co.uk for more information.
Mosaic Resource Centre
The Soup Bowl will be opening in the Mosaic Resource Centre, on Quarry Road, later in September. Soup Bowl will be open Monday - Friday and serve food from 12.30-1.30pm daily. We are in need of volunteers, so:
if you can open a tin of soup
if you can make a sandwich
if you can do the above with love and compassion
if you have a heart to serve the vulnerable, poor and lonely
if you enjoy people
then you are qualified to help at the Soup Bowl. Can you offer your time and service for one day a week? One day a fortnight? If so, please send me an email cllyallen@aol.com
There will be more information about Mosaic in the coming weeks.
