Rutgers University COVID-19 Information Website

If you want to stay up to date with university communications regarding COVID-19, please be sure to visit this website.  It contains information for students, faculty, staff and parents and family members including health and safety guidance, testing and vaccine info, updates on campus resources and communication from the university President and Chancellor-Provost.

Important Information about COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Rutgers Students

 

Any student who has not yet submitted documentation of their COVID-19 vaccination, which is required for the fall 2021 semester, should upload proof of at least one dose of vaccination to the Student Immunization Portal (https://rutgers.medicatconnect.com) as soon as possible. 

If a student fails to show proof of vaccination or fails to qualify for a valid exemption that student will risk restricted access to campus and university systems. 

Rutgers University has put the COVID-19 vaccine mandate in place as the most effective way to protect the health and safety of the university community and those around us. More information can be found at the Rutgers University COVID-19 vaccine information page.

Rutgers Now Offers COVID-19 Vaccines to Students and the Public

Rutgers Students: Rutgers is now offering COVID-19 vaccination appointments. Please visit the Rutgers COVID-19 vaccine portal to schedule an appointment or to upload your immunization record. Rutgers also offers COVID-19 vaccine scheduling assistance. Call today for help in finding a vaccination appointment.

New Jersey residents: Rutgers University is offering free COVID-19 vaccines to eligible individuals at clinics in Camden, Newark, and Piscataway. No insurance card is required. To make an appointment at one of our clinics, or to get help scheduling an appointment at a clinic closer to you, call Rutgers’ Vaccine Scheduling Assistance Program at 848-445-3033, Monday-Friday from 9 am - 5 pm:

We are excited to announce our Parent and Family Day 2021! On Saturday, October 2, we will be offering discounted football tickets so you and your students can watch the Scarlet Knights take on Ohio State! Parent and Family Weekend Update

Due to challenges with COVID-19, we have made the decision to host Parent and Family Weekend in the Spring.  More information about Parent and Family Weekend Spring 2022 along with the schedule of events for the weekend will be announced early next year.  Please stay tuned to familyweekend.rutgers.edu for the most updated information.

Student Affairs Parent and Family Town Hall Recap

The Division of Student Affairs recently hosted a Town Hall meeting for parents and family members.  Representatives from a variety of departments at Rutgers University–New Brunswick participated to answer questions about the fall 2021 semester.

  • Labor Day: Monday, September 6
  • Change in Designation in Class Day: Wednesday, September 8 (Monday Classes Meet on This Day)
  • Last Day to Drop a Class (without a W)*: Wednesday, September 8
  • Last Day to Add a Class: Thursday, September 9
  • Last Day to Reduce/Cancel a Meal Plan: Wednesday, September 15
*students should consult their Academic Advisor before changing their schedule

Term Bills- Fall 2021

Fall 2021 Term Bills are now available to view and pay. Payment must be made on or before the due date displayed on student's term bill. Please note the following important information below:

Health Insurance - Fall 2021

Rutgers University requires full time and all F&J Rutgers visa sponsored students to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan before the deadline, each semester.  The Health Insurance premium is automatically added to the term bill each semester. Visit www.universityhealthplans.com for details.
 


-Fall 2021 open waiver/enrollment period has begun

September 21, 2021.
 


  -Complete the waiver and enrollment forms for spring 2022 semester before February 17, 2022 (will be reflected on Spring term bill).
 


-Enrolling? Paying the premium on the term bill is not enrolling, you must complete the enrollment form before the deadline to finalize the process.
 
-Waiving?  The premium will be removed from the term bill within 4 business days after submission of the waiver form.

F-1/J-1 VISA Health Insurance and Waivers

Medical care in the United States is expensive. All international students at Rutgers are required to have at least a minimum level of health insurance coverage. The University’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) premium is automatically added to a student’s term bill each semester and must be waived if a student has comparable coverage. F-1 and J-1 students are required to waive at https://sunapsis/rutgers.edu or complete the enrollment form at www.universityhealthplans.com each semester before the deadline dates. The deadline for fall 2021 waivers is September 21, 2021.

We encourage that students use the University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) during their first year, and can opt for alternate coverage (if they choose) after they are more familiar with the healthcare and insurance system in the U.S.

Official Student Newsletter – One Stop Weekly
 
Please remind all students to check out important announcements and information in the “One Stop Weekly”, the official student newsletter that is distributed every Tuesday via RAMS (Rutgers Automated Mail Service). This weekly newsletter provides all students with timely information related to academics, health, safety, and finances.

Note: The One Stop Weekly was formerly the New Brunswick Official Student Listserv (NBOSL). Students should make sure to check their spam filters and junk mail if they don’t receive each Tuesday.

Follow our social media channels to stay up to date with information about living off-campus, and resources available to you on campus and in the community.
 
  • GOOD NEIGHBOR WELCOME
On Wednesday, September 1ST from 5-7pm, Rutgers students, staff and New Brunswick community members will be going door to door welcoming off-campus student back to the community. We will be providing information about local ordinances, upcoming programming and on-campus resources for students.  Students are invited back to the parking lot behind the College Ave Student Center for ice cream and local and on-campus partners will be tabling with additional information.
 
  • REGISTER YOUR LOCAL ADDRESS
If you are a student renting in the local community, please register your local address and emergency contact information with our office so we can keep you updated on municipal information, programming, emergency alerts and other helpful information related to living off-campus.
 
  • NEW BRUNSWICK TENANT PARKING PERMITS
Registration for parking permits is done online with The New Brunswick Parking Authority using this link You will need a scanned copy of your current signed lease, vehicle registration and driver’s license.   
 
  • RUTGERS STUDENT FOOD PANTRY
Do you ever…
  • Worry you will not have enough money for food?
  • Cut or skip a meal because you didn’t have enough money to buy food?
  • Find yourself unable to eat balanced or nutritious meals because of a lack of money?

The Rutgers Student Food Pantry (RSFP) is here to help. All you need is your Rutgers ID card and an appointment. Dining Hall Information

The Dining Service website outlines a lot of helpful information for students dining on campus.  A quick visit to their website will allow you to take a virtual tour of the dining hall, view operating hours for dining hall and retail locations, learn more about using RUExpress, find nutrition information, and more!

Will your student be commuting to Rutgers this fall? If yes, then the Rutgers Commuter Student Association (RCSA) wants to share events, resources, and other opportunities that are available to them now and in the future. These include: events catered to commuters, interactive lounge on Discord, Future Commuter Mentor Program, leadership opportunities, and amenities.

Welcome Week 2021
 

Welcome Week 2021 kicks off August 25 through September 3 with a full schedule of events designed to support the academic and personal journeys of you, our first- and second-year students! This year, Welcome Week will provide our newest Scarlet Knights opportunities to foster connections, learn about Rutgers culture, and learn to navigate campus and all of its resources. Programs include the annual Involvement Fair, academic advising sessions, scavenger hunts, campus and bus tours, and fun events to meet fellow Rutgers students.

New Student Convocation + Scarlet Carnivale


New Student Convocation is the university’s official welcome for new first-year and transfer students, and is scheduled to take place in the Rutgers Athletics Center the afternoon of Friday, August 27. It will be both a spirited and a solemn program, beginning with education on many of Rutgers’ traditions and performances by a wide variety of student groups. During the formal program, students will hear remarks from Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway, Chancellor-Provost Francine Conway, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Salvador Mena and Rutgers University--New Brunswick Student Body President Gavin Mayes, and will become official Scarlet Knights.

Following Convocation, students will enjoy an outdoor, carnival-inspired event where they can win prizes, play boardwalk games, compete in laser tag, eat dinner, and so much more.

Involvement Fair 2021


The countdown has begun! The annual Involvement Fair is coming up on August 30 from 3-6pm. Get excited to participate in one of Rutgers’ most anticipated student events! In case of rain, we’ll see you on August 31 (3-6pm).
