Weekly Update
August 20, 2021

Welcome back everyone!  We had a busy week here at Mead Middle School.  It was so wonderful to see so many students walking our halls and hear the sounds of lockers opening and closing again!  I also loved seeing so many of our students dressing out for our first BOB day today!  We had over 80% of our students wearing their Black and Orange.  I am sure as the year moves on, this number will only go up.  Please make sure you check out information about our Back to School Night next week and also check out our list of clubs and activities.  Finally, don't forget that Girl's Volleyball starts on Monday (registration information is below).

I look forward to meeting many of you next week and as always....GO BULLDOGS!

iPad Insurance:

The $25 insurance fee has been added to your child's account and can be paid via RevTrak or at the front office.  In order for your child's iPad to be covered under the insurance policy the fee needs to be paid by September 10th.  After that date, the fee will be deleted and insurance will no longer be available.  We strongly encourage every student to carry insurance on their iPad.

Highlights of this insurance are as follows:

  • A first incident of accidental damage is no charge

  • A second incident of accidental damage is $ 50

  • A third incident of accidental damage at $100

  • Exchange of district-issued non-working lightning cable

  • One incident of loss at a cost of $250 (a police report may be required for a loss claim)

  • Full insurance details can be found here.

Water Bottles:

Mead Middle students are welcome to bring water bottles with them to their classes.

                                  Planners:

This year all Mead Middle School students will be using a paper planner to help keep them organized.  The planners will be where they write down their daily homework assignments and long term assignments. All Math, English, Social Studies and Science teachers will end their classes by going over homework and have students use their planners.  Our hope is that these planners will be a good organizational tool for students, and will also give parents a quick place to look for the homework their child has for the evening.  Mead Middle will provide each student with a planner at the beginning of the year.  If you wish to provide your own planner, that is certainly acceptable.  We do ask that the planner have calendar pages so that your child can write down both daily assignments and long term assignments. If you are providing your child with a planner, please have them bring it to their first day of school.

              Student hours in the building:

All students not participating in a school activity or being directly supervised by an adult may not enter the building before 7:42 and must be out of the building by 3:00.

                  Parking Lot Safety:

  1. Drop students off on the West curb.

  2. If you are dropping off or picking up a student please pull as far forward as possible in the lane and only drop off/pick up students at the curb. Please don’t “double park” and drop off/pick up students. It is dangerous for students to cross the pick up lane traffic to get to a car on the other side.

  3. The west curb is for “quick” drop offs. If you are going to park for an extended period of time, please park in a parking spot.

  4. Please stop at our designated crosswalk.

  5. If parking in the lot, please leave space for kids to walk in between cars.  Also, please be very careful when pulling away from your spot.

  6. Please talk to your child about not running out into the parking lot to your car.  Please reinforce that you will pick them up on the curb, or that they can use the crosswalk to get to your car in the parking lot.

  7. Finally, please drive slowly and be patient with others.  Don’t let frustration cause a preventable accident.

ABSENCES FROM SCHOOL

It is very important when a student is absent from school that the parent /guardian telephone on the morning of the absence (970-535-4446).  If no telephone contact is made on the day of the absence, the parent will need to send a note to the office on the day the student returns stating the reason for the absence.

MAKE-UP WORK

1. Check Schoology for homework and assignments.

2. Collect any missed worksheets from the designated area in each classroom.

3. See each teacher upon return.

TARDIES

Students arriving at school late must report to the office for an admit slip before reporting to class.

How can I find out what is happening in my child’s classes?

Infinite Campus: For Grades and Attendance

Mead Middle School teachers update their class grades and attendance via Infinite Campus (IC).  If you have an IC account, you are ready to go.  If you do not have an account in IC, please click this link to get started.  If you need assistance with this process, please contact the office.

Schoology: For assignments, homework, and class resources

Schoology is Mead Middle School’s learning management system (teacher website).  Your child’s assignments and class resources will be located on this site.  Returning parents and students already have a Schoology account.  If you are new to Mead Middle School, Infinite Campus and Schoology use the same parent login information.  A link to the Schoology login page can be found here

Please note that some assignments will be scored in Schoology, but that does NOT mean that Schoology is the teacher's gradebook.  Infinite Campus is the official teacher gradebook.

Carpool Information:

Mead Middle School has partnered with Way to Go to offer this program to our parents as a free service with the goal of reducing traffic congestion and minimizing the stress of getting children to and from school. Rest assured, your information will only be shared with participating Mead Middle School families. No one else will ever see your information, unless you elect to share your information with families at other schools.

The Schoolpool secure mapping service can be used for trip planning, or emergency trips and is a great resource to meet nearby families for other reasons such as play-dates and babysitters.

The more families that register, the more likely you are to find good matches. Contact Way to Go at 303-458-7665 or waytogo@drcog.org for assistance.

  1. Create an account and register your household address or intersection here:     https://mywaytogo.org/s/schoolpool-mead-midbha17

(To maintain the highest level of privacy and security, this link is the only way for Mead Middle School participants to register.)

  1. Add comments to indicate special requests or preferences, such as “can provide morning rides in exchange for afternoon rides,” “student is in after-school actives,” or “looking for a walk buddy in the mornings.”
