Greetings, cello friends!

Here's a quick summary of what you will find in this newsletter - the links in this section will take you straight to that part of the email:

Our lead article this week is Dr. Leonovich's look at Bantock's "Sapphic Poem."
Make sure also to check out our weekly news and listing of online concerts and events.

Dr. Leonovich has been extremely busy with a new collection of Popper's Gavottes this week.

Get ready for back-to-school with a new hoodie from our Museum Shop - new designs are available!

Our current exhibition, Innovations in Cello-Making Materials, is still online - stop by and see this metal church cello.

Don't miss any of our Cello Birthdays series celebrating cellists, composers of cello music, cello makers, and people with strong ties to the cello world.

We wrap up this newsletter with a new note from our curator, Dr. Brenda Neece.

Cello Birthdays
Every day in our Cello Birthdays series, we think of those who are or have been part of the cello world, including cellists, composers of cello music, cello makers, and authors of cello books.

This is a work in progress that started this month. Please help us by letting us know any birthdays we should consider adding.

Please keep in mind that we tend to add only those where we can find media (videos, photos, audio recordings) that we can share online.
New Cello Editions

Curator's Note

Thank you for being part of our Cello Museum family!

I hope that you are staying well. We’ve been online for almost a year now. Thank you to those who have been with us for a while, and welcome to those who have joined us recently.

I’m excited to announce that we are launching our new series, “Celebrating New Music for the Cello -
New York Women Composers Spotlight.” Beginning in October, each month we will feature a cello work from one of the NYWC members and a list of her other works for the cello.

Many thanks to composer
Rain Worthington for spearheading this project and the president of NYWC, Marilyn Bliss, for making this possible.

Are you interested in working with The Cello Museum on a collaboration like this? If so, please get in touch.

Please keep in touch. I always love to hear from you.
