Honors Study Spaces

One of the perks of being in the Honors College is having access to study spaces on both the Alpharetta and Clarkston campuses. Spaces are available for use when staff is in the office; we hope to offer more availability soon.

Rooms can be reserved for one hour, and reservations can be extended if there are no other students waiting to use the room. Students will provide their Panther ID to verify active honors status. We ask that spaces are kept neat and clean. We observe university holidays and are not open on weekends or after 4 p.m. during the week.

Alpharetta Hours
Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7 AM - 4 PM

Clarkston Hours
Mondays, 7 AM - 4 PM

If someone is in the office outside of these hours, please do feel free to request access to the rooms!

Masks are strongly encouraged in all Honors spaces.

Study Abroad with Honors

Did you know you can earn honors credit while studying abroad?

Students who study abroad consistently note that it is a life-changing experience. Beyond that, participating in a study abroad program at Perimeter College counts as one, 3-credit course towards honors recognitions and transfer hours. This is whether the study abroad course is an honors course or not.

We also offer honors seats in some of our study abroad programs. In summer 2022, we will be offering honors seats on the Greece trip and our first ever Honors Abroad program: Honors at The Hague.

Check out all of the amazing programs that will be running this year, and learn more about each by attending virtual information sessions at our first "Day of Study Abroad" event, sponsored by the Perimeter College International Initiatives office.

A Day of Study Abroad

"A Day of Study Abroad" will take place on September 7th from 10am-1:30pm. Learn more from the Program Directors for 2022 Study Abroad opportunities: Belize, The Bahamas, Bali, The Netherlands (for honors students), Romania, and more!

Each session will last for 10 minutes with 5 minutes for questions.

Research Opportunities

Here are the requirements for submitting a manuscript to Discovery Journalhttps://scholarworks.gsu.edu/discovery/about.html

Other options: Talk with faculty and department chairs in your major discipline about opportunities to present at a professional or student-oriented research conference. There are many, many opportunities, and costs for students to participate can be very low -- and perhaps the departments even have funding for student participation. For this academic year, we will count virtual presentations at official academic conferences toward this recognition.

Georgia State Day 2021

Georgia State Day is the University's day of giving. The campaign will begin at 10 a.m. on September 28, 2021 and continue for 1 day, 9 hours and 13 minutes to honor the university's founding year. This year, consider showing your support for the Honors College at Perimeter with a contribution of any amount during the designated giving period, 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28 to 7:13 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29.

Our goal this year is to raise at least $25,000 to fund a future "Portnoy Prize" which will support Honors Faculty Development and Recognition. It may seem like a lot, but we are up for the challenge! And, to make things more exciting, we have a matching gift of $6,800 to get us started!

Please click on the button below to learn more about how your donation will be used. If you or someone you know would like more information about gift giving to the Honors College at Perimeter College, please contact Associate Dean Lauri Goodling at lgoodling1@gsu.edu

If you'd like to help us by getting the word out on social media, you can be a "Panther Advancer," please contact Dr. Michael Bradley at mtbjr@gsu.edu.

Now Hiring Student Assistants

The Honors College is looking to hire student assistants for the fall and spring semesters! Students have typically worked between 6 and 12 hours a week. Students assistants will help us staff the Honors offices at the Alpharetta and Clarkston campuses this semester. There is some flexibility for accommodating remote work. Additionally, if you have Federal Work Study as part of your financial aid package, let us know, and we can accommodate that.

Help us by
  • compiling our newsletter
  • creating digital flyers for events
  • updating our digital presence (social media)
  • serving as helpers at our in-person events
  • helping in the office with various tasks, such as answering phones, copying, welcoming walk-ins, serving fellow students and visitors
Students should be currently registered in honors or have taken an honors course during their time at Perimeter and be in good academic standing. Pay range is $9-$10 per hour, depending on experience.

If this sounds like a good fit for you or another honors student you know, please email perimeterhonors@gsu.edu and introduce yourself! Include a resume and cover letter and we will reach out and schedule an interview.

Honors Mentors Program

Planning to transition to the Honors College at the Atlanta campus in December 2021 or May 2022? Eager to develop your connections downtown but unsure of where to start? Interested in having a leg up before you get there?

Apply for our Honors Mentors program! We will match you with an honors student in his/her junior or senior year who has successfully transitioned to the Honors College in Atlanta. As a mentee, you will have the opportunity to observe an honors class and take a personal tour of the Honors College, all while developing a relationship with someone who has blazed the trail you’re on.

Our mentors are leaders on campus and in the community, high achievers in the classroom, and overall excellent students. Their experiences at Perimeter and Atlanta will be an invaluable resource to your transition downtown. Your mentor will be there to answer your questions about the Atlanta campus, the Honors College and how to take full advantage of its opportunities, and residential life (like where to park, how to get around, and the best coffee spots on campus). The Honors Mentors program will last for a full semester for mentees graduating in December and a full year for those graduating in May.

We anticipate this process to be selective to ensure we are preparing Perimeter honors students for success downtown. If you are planning to transition to Atlanta in December 2021 or May 2022, have maintained a 3.3 GPA, will have completed 12 credit hours of honors by then, and you know you'd like to be a part of the Honors College when you continue your studies in Atlanta, please email us a little about yourself and your academic goals to perimeterhonors@gsu.edu. Include “Honors Mentors Request” in the subject line and your Panther ID# in the body. This will serve as your application, so make it good!

Applications are due by September 10 with a program start date set for September 24.  We look forward to hearing from you!
