Join insurance professionals (many Badger alum) from American Family, CUNA Mutual Group, Milliman,  and Travelers, as well as other students, for socializing that includes a game and ice-breakers. This informal event is to celebrate the beginning of the school year and help us get to know each other.

At this virtual picnic, you will have the opportunity to have small-group conversations (i.e. 6-8 students/1 representative) with multiple company representatives. Participating in this fun and fast-moving event is a great way to get to know and receive advice from insurance professionals, meet other students, and have fun.

We encourage ALL students interested in the insurance and risk management fields, including actuarial science, risk management and insurance, math, statistics, and economics, to stop by and join us at this FREE event.

This event is sponsored by the UW-Madison Risk and Insurance CCLB companies American Family Insurance, CUNA Mutual Group, Milliman, Swiss Re, and Travelers. The objective of the CCLB is to generate opportunities for students to interact with business representatives, developing professional skills outside the classroom in an informal way.
SIGN UP - Actuarial Club Mentorship Program
Interested in learning more about actuarial science, giving back to our program, or just making more friends? Then consider joining our mentorship program!

The Actuarial Club has a mentorship program that is open to and highly encouraged for all members of the club, especially those who are just beginning or considering pursuing actuarial science! Each year we have around 100 students participate, both upperclassmen and underclassmen.

When you join, you will be paired up with 3-5 other actuarial students who have varying levels of experience in the actuarial program. As such, this program is a great opportunity for underclassmen to learn from the experiences of upperclassmen that got them to where they are today. In turn, upperclassmen have the opportunity to give back to the club and help students with their actuarial journey.

Throughout the semester, we will work to hold several program-wide events that you will attend with your families; all other involvement will occur within each individual family. Thus, this program relies on family members reaching out to one another throughout the semester.

If you would like to join the mentorship program, simply fill out this form! The deadline to join is Friday, September 24th.

The Mentorship Kickoff meeting will be Tuesday, September 28th from 5:30-6:30pm. Keep a look out for more communication on this if you've signed up!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to this year’s mentorship leads: Jess Fonte (jfonte@wisc.edu) and Kayla Zimdars (zimdars2@wisc.edu

Virtual Middle School Tutoring
Do you want to help middle school students succeed in math?  Do you want to help create some normalcy in a younger student's life and possibly develop new friendships?  Do you want to improve your skills in explaining more technical topics?

If your answer to each of the above questions is "yes," please consider tutoring middle school students virtually this fall!  The UW actuarial program is partnering with The Actuarial Foundation's Math Motivators program to have UW actuarial students tutor middle school students in math.  The time commitment is one hour per week.  There are various tutoring opportunities, starting between September 14 and October 3.

If you are seriously interested in virtual tutoring, please fill out the Google sheet at:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TocJ51EwfXE1OcA5Qo6RzsWVaT6-rt4FbEQIZ_6LNB8/edit?usp=sharing.

Paul Johnson will get back to interested people with more information about the specific tutoring opportunities as well as the signup process.  Feel free to contact him at paul.johnson@wisc.edu.
Joke Time!
Why did the student get upset when her teacher called her average?

It was a ‘mean’ thing to say.
