Ramona 70 (50+1)-Year Reunion - T Minus 30 Days

September 9, 2021
Hi, <<First Name>>...

It's been about three weeks since I last wrote, and we have about four weeks until our reunion... in fact, as I write this, our reunion will be 30 days from tonight! Have you made your (tentative/final) decision on whether you're going to attend? Let me see if I can give you some reliable information to guide your decision-making process, especially if you're still undecided, and then provide information on how to register and how to cancel your reservation.

Reliable Information

On a positive note, it appears as though the new case rates for COVID-19 in both California and Riverside County are on a general downward trend. Likewise, neither California nor Riverside County have imposed any additional requirements on an event like ours (we're not a "Mega Event"), so the conditions we've imposed remain the same as three weeks ago:

You'll have to provide one of the following at the October 9 Saturday evening event:
  1. Evidence of current, full vaccination, OR
  2. Evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result taken 72 hours before the event.
Likewise, masks at this time will still be a personal choice, but I encourage people to wear a mask while indoors, and we will have disposable face coverings available when you check in in case you forgot yours. There will also be outdoor areas where you can congregate to visit (both smoking and non-smoking), and some may feel more comfortable to dispense with their mask outdoors. However, the situation may still change in the next four weeks, so we will comply with whatever new California and Riverside County health department requirements may in effect at the time of the reunion.

Ticket prices for the Saturday October 9 reunion event went up after September 1, and are now $62.50 single/$120 couple (plus a transaction fee if you pay by credit/debit card). The schedule of all events - including the Friday picnic (still sponsored by the Class of 1971) - is available at our (50 + 1)-year reunion page.

How To Register

Like I said above, you have 30 days or less to get off the fence and decide whether or not to attend the Saturday reunion event. Registration is a two-step process, however you choose to do it:
    1. Fill out the reservation form:
           a. Using the paper form on the invitation letter, or
           b. Using the online reservation form.
                                AND
    2. Make your payment:
           a. Mail me a check (info on the paper form), or
           b. Choose one of the online payment options.

I must receive reservation information and payment no later than Tuesday, October 5 in order to secure you a slot and a meal. We may be able to take last minute payments at the door, depending on whether there will be enough food, but don't count on it... act today!

Note that you don't need to separately order the CD with the bio/address book and photos if you are attending - it's included in the ticket price.

How To Cancel A Reservation

I will offer full refunds (minus credit/debit card transaction fees) to those who have already paid and subsequently decide not to attend if I'm notified no less than Tuesday, October 5. I have to provide the caterer a final count of attendees the next day, and I'll also be on the road after Tuesday and won't be able to handle your request at that point.

However, I will delay providing refunds until after I return from the reunion weekend (starting around October 15th or so), just so that I can deal with them all at once. Thanks for your patience.

______________________________________

I know this is a difficult time, and some of you have shared how much this pandemic has affected you and how you've struggled to make your decision whether or not to attend. Rest assured that we intend to have future reunions, probably in 2025 for our 55 "Stayin' Alive" reunion celebration... you'll just have to hang on another four years!

I'll send out another email in a couple of weeks discussing more about the other activities we'll be hosting, including suggested places to meet informally on Friday evening after the homecoming game, where to go after we conclude at 9:00 PM on Saturday (if you're still up to partying), and where to have dinner Sunday evening after the picnic at Fairmount Park.

Again, welcome to any new subscribers who joined this email list in response to receiving the reunion invitation in the mail, or because I added you to keep you informed! Feel free to explore the Ramona Class of 1970 website, and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

ps - as I've noted before, the current RSVP list is updated periodically, and I thank everyone who has responded, even if you're not attending. Check to see if your name is on the list, and let me know if you want me to add your name, or move it from one category to the other.
