Dear Adath,
We can’t describe the joy we felt on Rosh Hashanah as we saw members of the Adath community in person and knew so many more were tuning in virtually. In the last 24 hours, our programming staff and lay leaders have been evaluating all our services and activities, in consultation with our COVID-19 Advisory Committee, and look forward to the rest of the 5782 High Holy Days. Our Adath community continues to thrive thanks to the many volunteers and staff who have made this season as safe, inclusive, and welcoming as possible. As we mentioned last week, we want to be in touch about our plans for Yom Kippur.
For adults:
• We will offer, as originally planned, Aleph and Bet services for both Kol Nidre evening, September 15. and Yom Kippur morning, September 16. For Kol Nidre, Aleph will begin at 6:00pm sharp and seating for Bet will open at 8:30pm. For the morning services, Aleph will begin in the Sanctuary. Bet will start in the Social Hall. Upon arrival, please notice all signage that allows for the smooth and safe flow of community members in the building. The rest of the details for Yom Kippur services and activities (including Mincha and Neilah) can be found here.
For families with young kids:
• In addition to welcoming those who registered for outdoor Family Services in person, there will be a Zoom option to capture these services as they happen and view from home. You can access the link here. If there is rain in the forecast our Family Service will move to Zoom exclusively. As noted before, we will let you know by Tuesday afternoon, September 14 if that is our plan. If you are joining in person, please remember to bring a blanket or chairs as seating under the tent is limited.
• For all households attending Family Services, please access the backyard from the outside by making your way along the right side of the building, by the Social Hall, next to the main parking lot. You will see signage to direct you.
• If you have not yet registered for Parent Learning on Jewish Identity and Israel on Yom Kippur, please do so here before Shabbat. Registration is required for participation, and an email will be sent to registrants in advance to confirm all details.
• If you have already registered for adult services, children may come into the Sanctuary, accompanied by their adults, and must stay together as a pod at all times.
For everyone:
• Any person or group (in the same pod) that enters the Sanctuary Service will be directed to available seating by the ushers.
• If you have not yet picked up a Mahzor (High Holy Days prayerbook) please contact hhd@adath.net to make arrangements.
• The feedback about our upgraded cameras and sound system continues to be very positive. The cameras will be repositioned away from the HVAC vents to avoid camera shaking when the HVAC system is running.
As we move through these Ten Days of Awe, from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur, we remain grateful for the many ways we are able to stay connected.
G’mar Chatima Tovah, may you be inscribed for a year of good health, peace, and hope,
