Good afternoon

Welcome to this edition of the City of South Perth local business eNews. Spring seems to have finally arrived and we are already turning our heads to Christmas and Melbourne Cup campaigns. See below for information about how you can be part of the campaign.

Please remember to let us know about any marketing campaigns you are running so we can help share the information where possible.

Economic Development Plan Approved

The City recently prepared a draft Economic Development Plan (EDP) which was advertised for community and local business feedback in June and July of this year. The EDP was updated based on feedback provided and on Tuesday 28 September it was endorsed by Council

The purpose of the Plan is to provide an overall strategic economic vison for the City that aligns with our community’s priorities, identifying strategic growth areas, current gaps and future trends.

Work will now begin on delivering the actions contained in the implementation plan of the EDP.

More details can be found on the City's website.

August Networking Event wrap-up

The inaugural local business networking event was a great success with close to 50 local business owners and employees attending. Thanks to all those who came along.

Small Business Commissioner David Eaton provided details of what the Small Business Development Corporation can do to assist our local businesses before presenting the City with our signed Small Business Friendly Local Governments Charter.

Perth Zoo Executive Director Wendy Attenborough gave an update on the zoo's masterplan and talked through how the zoo as an organisation managed through COVID-19 lockdowns.

The City is working on our next networking event with details coming soon.

Festive Season Events/Promotions

The City is preparing its festive season marketing plan to encourage residents to shop locally for gifts, food and beverage and general supplies as part of our Buy Local Shop Local campaign. Encouraging visitation to local restaurants, cafes and small bars for casual dining or events is also a key element of the plan.

If you have a special Christmas or Melbourne Cup offers, promotion, event or product that you would like the City to help promote, please send details to
