Alaska INBRE has partnered with EPSCoR and BLaST to bring the NIH Resilient Scientist Workshop Series to our network. The goal of the series is to help you develop the resilience you need to navigatet challenging situations in school, work and life. The series is only open to INBRE, EPSCoR and BLaST students, both undergraduate and graduate. Space is limited so register soon!

If you are interested in participating, you will need to watch the webinars and attend the discussion groups (either graduate or undergraduate). The webinars will be recorded and can be watched anytime prior to the discussion sessions the following week. The complete schedule is provided on the registration form.

NIH Virtual Seminar on Program Funding & Grants Administration

This free virtual seminar is designed specifically for administrators, researchers, early-stage investigators, graduate students, or anyone new to working with the NIH grants process. Learn about NIH grant processes, policies, and programs. Interact with NIH program, grants management, review and policy staff. Gather resources to use and share with colleagues. Engage and network with your peers.

The Biomedical Learning and Student Trainingn (BLaST) program invites proposals for the purchase of equipment to support student biomedical research training. A full description and supporting documents can be found here.

  • COVID-19, including impacts to healthcare access, associated influences on mental health, and disproportionate impacts to vulnerable populations.

A team of UA biomedical researchers have joined a federally funded effort to improve tracking of COVID-19 variants throughout the state. The NIH grant supports efforts to sequence and analyze genomes of variants circulating in Alaska. Participants include UAF researchers Jack Chen and Devin Drown, and UAA researchers Jason Burkhead, Cindy Knall and Eric Bortz, with collaborators Southcentral Foundation and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. Check here for the latest report
