Prevent Supersize Houses from Coming to
Our Neighbourhood!

Support Our Winning Team: 6 Wins in 7 Appeals

80% of SAHRA Residents Opposed to 3 Storeys
While by-laws limit houses to 2 storeys in our area, developers often push for 3 storeys. These changes would be detrimental to most homeowners. They would:
  • reduce backyard privacy
  • increase shading
  • change the attractive character & look of our neighbourhood

The South Armour Heights Residents’ Association (SAHRA) opposes:

  • residential overdevelopment, including three storeys, sub-basements and burrowing
  • commercial overdevelopment, including height and massing beyond the City’s by-laws

Since 2014, we have appealed decisions on your behalf 7 times, winning 6 and losing 1. Winning requires hiring a planner and a lawyer. Recent full appeals each cost about $10,500 and reimbursement is not awarded, even upon a win.  Annual membership contributions to SAHRA are not enough to cover these costs: we have been drawing on our reserves to fund these appeals and need to rebuild our resources now.

You told us your concerns:
SAHRA poll results of residents from Fall 2020:
  • Opposed to Three Storeys                                                              80%
  • Opposed to Sub-Basements                                                           73%
  • Opposed to Burrowing                                                                    75%
  • Concerned about Commercial Development                                  81%
