Abundant Life

Mary, now 70 years old, has always been the breadwinner of her family, including her husband and their four girls. She works very hard making and selling pastries, refreshments, and Arabic sweets. She was able by the little she made to raise and educate their daughters and support them through college. Her husband has never worked or taken any responsibility at home. He lives on the money his wife makes. He spends $30 a day on cigarettes and alcohol.

I met Mary during a home visit. Regardless of her hard life, she is always smiling and positive. She said to me, “I know the Lord is with me. My four girls are married to good people. They desire to help me, but I will not take help from them.” I offered her a little help, but she also refused me. She said, “The Lord provides for all my needs. I know my husband's conduct is wrong. But he is my husband, and I can’t do anything about it.”

Mary and I have talked about the love of Jesus Christ manifested on the cross. I have told her He died to not only save us from sin but also to give us abundant life. The first time she heard this, Mary was moved to hear the idea of an abundant life. Then she replied, “I know Jesus died for us, but that He wants to give me abundant life, this is new to me.” I explained to her how Jesus leads us into a life of satisfaction in Him, how He fills our lives with joy when He saves us from our sins.

I still visit and call Mary, as well as give her Bible study lessons. She has gained more understanding about the work of Jesus. Please pray Mary will continue to grow in her faith and experience more and more the abundant life He intends for her.

Children's Resources
Five short videos and reproducible handouts perfect for
VBS or Children's Ministries

Meet Nisaf, a winsome twelve-year-old girl in Kurdistan (northern Iraq). She lives with her family in a refugee camp, along with 8,000 other children and their families, after they fled from ISIS terrorists. Through five short videos Nisaf shows us where she lives and other special places in the camp, including the Noor Center. Established by Impact Middle East, the Noor Center creates ways for children to laugh, play, and feel safe again after all the trauma they have experienced in their lives. Reproducible handouts provide activities and additional information for each of the videos. Project options provide ways for children’s groups to help children like Nisaf.
