We are back! It is September (where did the summer go) and the Alamo Chapter Air and Waste Management Association is back in action for our 2021-2022 year! It was our hope, and I believe most if not everyone’s hope, that we would have our first meeting in person. Due to the current state of affairs, we will continue to host virtual meetings until concerns have subsided. But don’t let that get you down because we have great speakers lined up for this year. With it being the beginning of our speaker series, I would also like to let everyone know that the board has decided to have our annual membership run from September 1 to August 31 versus the calendar year. Doing this aligns with our summer break and how we currently have items lined out already, we are just aiming to be more consistent.
With that said, please be on the lookout for information concerning membership, because as we all know, “Membership has its privileges” (I probably just dated myself). In the membership email we will provide an application and a list of benefits that you or your company will receive by being a member. Please note that all money raised by dues and other events goes towards grants and scholarships...which is a huge benefit right there.
I can not wait for our 2021-2022 season and I look forward to hearing and hoping seeing everyone as soon as possible. And remember, “How much good inside a day? Depends how good you live ’em.” Shel Silverstein

Risk Communication: Avoiding Missteps and Overcoming Outrage Wednesday, September 22, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm ET
If you manage environmental issues, it’s not a matter of if—but when—you will be faced with risk communication challenges. Mishandling these challenges can lead to sullied reputations, lost time and money, late or denied permits, or worse.
This webinar will focus on the dynamics of risk communication and how to lay the groundwork for success. Participants will learn the key strategies for preparing a principled plan of action, how to avoid common missteps, and how to deal with outrage.
