Over the past year, as Chromagnon production has lumbered along and TBC2 software has been refined and tested, a whole new generation of modules has come into focus. We're calling the new series Gen3. The new modules return to the functional utility of the Visionary series (Gen1), using the lessons learned producing the Expedition series (Gen2). New design practices include using discrete OTA cores, 6-layer PCBs, ultra-low noise integrated power supplies, and direct 9-18VDC input power (from eurorack or any 2.1mm barrel DC power supply). The new modules set a high bar in quality and technology, while being fully backward compatible with previous LZX products.
FKG3 Keyer and SMX3 Matrix Mixer are the first two Gen3 modules available for pre-order. These two are already in production, with shipping planned for this Fall. Visit the LZX website for details and to place your pre-order. Other modules will be available for pre-order as they enter production. This tiered availability should minimize wait times between order and fulfillment.
So...where are we on Chromagnon and TBC2? Hardware testing is happening on both products. Typically, as PCBs are tested/corrected/reordered, hardware testing is a pretty quick, routine process. Unfortunately this process is been slowed significantly by delays in shipping and parts availability. The circuit boards for Chromagnon are large and highly complex, which makes ordering new revisions into atypically long delays. Those delays have been filled with new rounds of Fortress and Sensory Translator (both of which are waiting on delayed packaging to arrive), as well as preparation for Gen3 releases.
Thank you for your patience with the delays we have faced. I hope you're as excited about Gen3 as we are!
Love,
The LZX Team
