Walking the Talk

By Divine Providence, we have been given a rare and unique opportunity which enables all of us to assist HALO in continuing to be a voice for the medically vulnerable - by Walking the Talk!

Father Tom Wilson, pastor of All Saints Church in Lakeville, MN and Godson of HALO Board Member, Marlene Reid, is graciously permitting HALO to use his pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago (known in English as the Way of St. James) as a fundraising vehicle (in addition to his personal spiritual intentions). This world-renowned pilgrimage attracts thousands of pilgrims each year and provides a wonderful experience for sharing the Gospel with pilgrims from all over the world. Father Tom’s goal is to cover approximately 200- miles. His trek will begin on September 17 in Leon, France, and with God’s grace it will end on October 2 in Santiago, Spain.

Legend has it that the body of St. James the Great was moved by boat from Jerusalem to northern Spain where he was buried in the city now known as Santiago de Compostela. If you are not familiar with the Camino, you will want to research its significance as it has become one of the most important Christian pilgrimages in the world today.

Please join Father Tom and HALO in this inspirational journey by pledging your most generous support – you can do this in 3 different ways:

Step 1: Join Father Tom in praying the HALO-composed Prayer for the Sick & Dying (see below) on each day of his journey from September 17 through October 2.
As you say this prayer, and others, please keep the following intentions in mind:
  • The health of Father Tom and his walking companions, especially for their overly challenged feet and leg muscles, and for inspired endurance in reaching their goal;
  • Continued protection of the medically vulnerable; and
  • Much needed financial assistance for HALO. The financial support generated through this pilgrimage could mean a life-line so needed by HALO at this time. As you are already aware, the COVID year has greatly hampered HALO’s fundraising capabilities. Instead of down-sizing which we have begun to do, our efforts should be expanding to meet the growing demands of the medically vulnerable. Will this pilgrimage be the answer to our prayers?

Step 2: Prayerfully consider pledging a donation for each mile that Father Tom completes (Pledge per mile or flat pledge. Pledges per mile will be capped at 200 miles.)
Once you decide what you want to pledge, click on halovoice.org/walkingthetalk and enter your information. Throughout Father Tom’s journey, we will update you on his progress. After the completion of Father Tom’s walk, on October 3, we will email you a pledge reminder. You can then donate your pledged amount to HALO in one of two easy ways:

OPTION 1:          Credit card donations can be made securely at:          ............................www.halovoice.org/donate/

OPTION 2:          Send your order form/donation (checks only) to: ............................HALO,7301 Bass Lake Rd, .Minneapolis, MN 55428.

Healthcare Advocacy and Leadership Organization is a 501 (c)(3) organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Step 3: Please invite friends to join us on this spiritual journey while at the same time promoting a very worthy prolife cause.

We sincerely thank you for considering this pilgrimage! Please know that we will hold you in our prayers and in the depth of our hearts throughout this coming year.

With sincere gratitude in the Lord,

HALO’s Staff and Board of Directors

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Healthcare Advocacy and Leadership Organization is to promote, protect, and advocate for the rights of the medically vulnerable through direct patient and family interactions; through intercessory prayer; through community education and awareness programs; and through promotion and development of concrete *"life-affirming healthcare"* alternatives for those facing the grave consequences of healthcare rationing and unethical practices, especially those at risk of euthanasia and assisted suicide.

*"Life-affirming healthcare" is defined as medical care in which the paramount principle is the sanctity of life, which means that the life and safety of each person come first and each person receives medical care across their lifespan based on their need for care and never with an intention to hasten death, regardless of their abilities or perceived "quality of life."
