Ministry of Hospitality

October 16/17

This weekend, parish staff had the pleasure of meeting with about 20 Ministers of Hospitality; it was an opportunity for us to offer our sincerest thanks for their hard work and dedication over the course of the last year and half with the pandemic. Often times these individuals were here every day, after multiple Masses, making sure that all COVID protocols, including cleaning, were followed. We also started to plan what a return to ministerial life post-covid might look like. We are looking to add to our roster of Ministers of Hospitality at all Masses. Our hope is to have about 15 available per Mass, scheduled based on availability. If you’re interested in joining us during this exciting time, please contact michael.pirri@utoronto.ca

There will be a truck parked at the church all weekend, and volunteers will be there before and after the Saturday and Sunday Masses.

Catechesis: Now Accepting Registrations

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a catechetical program that encourages children to develop their innate potential for a faith-filled relationship with God. In the Atrium (the room specifically designed and dedicated to the child’s faith formation), the children encounter Jesus, the Good Shepherd who loves them, cares for them, and knows them by name. Catechesis includes Scripture, Mass gestures, prayers, artwork, and music.

St. Basil’s is excited to open the doors of its Atrium to children ages 3-6, starting Sunday September 12.

Information about this unique catechetical approach can be found on our website.

The 2022-22 schedule can be accessed here.

First Reconciliation and First Communion: Now Accepting Registrations

Children who are in Grade 2 + are invited to prepare to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. The program follows a family-based sacramental preparation model, which means that children and parent(s) attend the sessions together. Although the main goal of the program remains to prepare children for the sacraments, it does so within the scope of supporting the domestic church.

Program details, including cost and schedule can be found on our website
