PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Happy September! Many places have opened up and so are we, at BMAI.  It's time to get GAA rolling again and your ideas and help are important to us as a group. We are also happy to have some member news to share this month in our Member News section below.

NEXT MEETING: We will meet on
September 9th at 7pm at BAMI. We will hold our mini-show there! Be sure to bring your new work to show off or get suggestions. Wear your most fun mask and bring your own snack and drink.  Details and photos below.

The September Demonstrator is
George Scribner, who will present tips on how to use your iPad or digital device to help you solve your painting problems, composition design, values, or color before going to paint.  This is to show the value of small studies either done digitally or traditionally.  In this case he will concentrate on the iPad but will also show examples of some of the traditional studies he has done at BMAI.  George has worked for Disney for many years as well as independently documenting the new construction on the Panama Canal, which included an exhibition of his paintings of the construction.  Please remember to WEAR A MASK and bring your own snacks.

Several GAA members are planning a paint-out and would like to hear from members who are interested in participating or have ideas for this event.
Please email us at: submitglendaleartassociation@gmail.com

Thank you for your attention, and see you at BMAI.  2228 Florencita Dr., Montrose, CA 91020

MEMBER NEWS:

We would also like to congratulate Bella Sohn on her marriage this Summer.

Diane, Helena, Yvonne, and Stefanie joined with 3 BAA members for a big show about trees and forests at the Neutra Institute in July.  30% of sales were donated to Tree People to help add to our urban forest.  Stefanie brought examples from her Art Candy Machine, and invented micro art for a bubblegum machine with all sales of micro art donated to Tree People. During this show Diane demonstrated a pastel painting, and Yvonne showed how to create an art journal.

Yvonne sold a lovely abstract to a new collector on the East coast.

Diane sold the"Yearly Nester" pastel to a new collector in Sacramento.

Stefanie was asked to continue her Art Candy Machine display and micro art gumball machine at the Neutra.
She also was appointed to the Burbank Cultural Arts Commission this Summer.
