Volunteering to Start the Year

With Welcome week just two weeks away we are really looking forward to seeing you back on campus or engaging with volunteering opportunities online! If you want to get more involved in volunteering this year, find new ways of developing your skills or meeting some likeminded people then we are ready to help!

During Welcome Week the Volunteering team are planning to attend the Students' Union Freshers' Fair on 20 and 21 September so if you want to talk to some of our student leaders about their opportunities that will be a great place to do it!

You can also visit the gazebo on Founders' Square on Wednesday 22 September where our leaders will be sharing their experiences of volunteering and the opportunities they have available.

Finally you will be able to visit our new Volunteering Hub! Throughout the week we are planning on hosting Social Action projects and community partners outside the hub, letting you know the ways that you can get involved!

Looking forward to welcoming you back soon,

Luke, Phil and Louise

The new home of volunteering!

The Volunteering Hub is a new one-stop shop for all things volunteering! Found at the side of the Davison Building the Hub will be the place to come to:

  • Explore volunteering projects to get involved with
  • Discover new ways to develop your skills
  • Learn how you can make a difference in the community
  • Meet other students engaged in opportunities
  • Much more!
The Volunteering Hub will be open from 10am-4pm weekdays during term time from Monday 20 September. Why not come by and say hello to one of our student assistants!

Become an #iwill ambassador!

Join a national movement!

Each year the #iwill campaign recruit young people aged between 10-25 from all across the UK as #iwill Ambassadors. They come from a variety of backgrounds, but all have one thing in common – a passion to make a difference to communities and society. If you would like to become an #iwill ambassador, find their recruitment pack online.

Learn about #iwill ambassadors on the #iwill website!

Community Action

Search for your perfect volunteering opportunity on our online platform

Surrey Coalition of Disabled People

Our new community partner the Surrey Coalition of Disabled people aims to support local disabled people by providing them support with their technology. This is called the "Tech to the Community" project and they are looking for volunteers to provide advice  either face to face or remotely from home.

They are recruiting for a number of roles including Tech Angels, Volunteering Reps and Volunteer Drivers. Find more details and apply online

Social Action Projects

Find even more great projects on our online platform!

Student Leader Training starting next week!

Next week we are holding our student leader training and we still have a small number of leadership roles available! If you would like to get access to our free leadership programme then be sure to apply for one of our remaining roles on our website

Sports Volunteering

Get your Moves app ready!

Last year Royal Holloway students and staff used the Moves app to donate to some incredible projects and we can't wait to reveal the great causes we have lined up for the next academic year. You can start earning points right now by downloading the app and walking, running or swimming!

Although Government coronavirus restrictions have now been lifted, the health and safety of our College community remains a top priority. Many of the effective measures that we have had in place to help protect you, everyone on campus and our whole community, will remain.

To help to keep our community safe, we all need to continue to play our part.

And Finally...

Next week we are holding training for all of our incoming and continuing student leaders online. We have recruited over thirty new student leaders who will join a dozen continuing student leaders. We are incredibly excited to see what plans they come up with for the year ahead for others to get involved with.

Furthermore we will be inviting our community partners to start adding opportunities to the online platform over the next few weeks so be sure to check the platform for new opportunities!
