Save the date: PCS 'virtual AGM'

Following our successful event last year we will once again be hosting a virtual AGM, and would like to use the meeting as an opportunity to engage with as many practices as possible. All staff members are also invited to join.

The virtual event will take place on Wednesday 6 October, 6pm - 7.30pm.

Summary of NHS England’s update on Primary Care Network plans

NHS England has shared the new service requirements for Primary Care Networks (PCNs) for both 2021/22 and 2022/23. You can read our summary below which gives an overview of what NHS England have said about some of the areas - such as Extended Access - where PCS might need to work alongside PCNs.

Team Updates

PCS 'Thank You Scheme'... who is on our 'wall of fame'?

This year we launched a new initiative to help you say ‘Thank You’ to colleagues who have helped you, or you have seen go ‘above and beyond’ in their work. The scheme is designed to give you the opportunity to highlight when someone really demonstrates one of our team values by being ‘innovative’, ‘ambitious’, ‘person-centred’, ‘empowering’, or ‘open’.

We now have 27 people featured on our 'wall of fame'... why not take a look to see if anyone you know is on there!

Covid Vaccination Centre now open to ages 16+

Darnall Primary Care Centre is holding walk-in vaccination clinics, open to everyone aged 16 years and over. Call in at times below. 1st and 2nd doses (8 weeks between doses). Walk-ins available, including those not registered with a GP. We also now provide AZ appointments in addition to Pfizer at weekends.
Round 46... The Chain!

We thought ‘The Chain’ would be a fun way to help us all keep in touch and to find out more about different parts of the organisation. Each week a team member will answer three questions and then gets to choose who will be asked the same questions next.

Last week:
Chris Thornton, Head of Primary Care at Scale
This week: Cara Brazier. Deputy Head of Primary Care at Scale
1. What 3 words would your colleagues use to describe you?
I’m not sure I could write some of them here, maybe…. Assertive, talkative and dependable

2. What’s your favourite place in the world?
Dunns River Falls in Jamaica – peaceful, calm and surrounded by nature (and Rum thanks to the locals)

3. What is the best thing about your job?
The team I have around me, we are always supportive of each other, we learn new things every day,(mainly me) as despite being at PCS for a year and a half I still feel like the new girl, the role of PCAS is so diverse it’s always a school day, this is also my way of also saying thank you to the team for humouring me, I promise to only ask relevant questions from here in. maybe……

4. Who do you nominate to go next in The Chain?
Neil Cormack
