Short welcome video from Royal Holloway Volunteering

New Year, New Home

Dear <<First Name>>,

As promised we wanted to send a shorter update to encourage you to get ready for engaging our students as volunteers in supporting your organisaton at this time. Usually we'd be sending a message relating to the Festival of Volunteering, which is our flagship volunteer recruitment event. Yet once again this coming year will be a different experience with a blended approach to engagement continuing, through smaller in person, online, and remote interactions.

Following the announcement of our new home of volunteering on campus we are now pleased to let you know the Volunteering Hub will be opening to students at the start of the academic year on 20 September. This is a significant and exciting time for us as we seek to better promote voluntary work and volunteering opportunities to our campus community.

Our Volunteering Platform continues to be an online hub for partners to advertise volunteer roles and students to explore the various opportunities available, so we ask you to update your profile ahead of start of term.

Please do scroll down to discover how you can best promote your organisation at this moment, and get ready for a brand new academic year. We invite you to get involved in whatever way you are able to!

Kind regards

Phil Simcock, Luke Russell, Louise McGarr

Congratulations to all our new students, they did it! They're officially part of the Royal Holloway community and we can't wait to welcome them soon.

Welcome Week and term one

We would love to invite our community partners to get involved at the start of term (w/c 20 Sept) during welcome week and beyond. We have a range of options;
  • promote your volunteer opportunities via our platform
  • host a stand outside our Volunteering Hub on campus (11am-3pm, Monday to Friday)
  • run an online introduction session remotely
  • share a pre recorded video via our social media channels
  • provide digital poster for our signage screen
  • offer an in person introduction session on campus
  • represent your organisation on a stand in our Davison building event space
We invite you to consider how you'd like your organisation to be involved.
Our team would be happy to talk through the options available during Welcome Week and term one.

A new central campus space will be open to students to explore volunteer opportunities and roles. This will include a reception area, digital display screens, meeting room, staff and placement workstations, and project area.
Our Volunteering Hub student assistants will enable the space to be open 10am - 4pm, Monday to Friday during term time.
If you would like a stand outside the Hub then let us know so we can book and promote your opportunities to students on campus.

Can we help your organisation?

Community Research provides an opportunity to tap into the range of expertise that exists within the various departments at Royal Holloway – to tailor your volunteering research needs.
The beauty of Community Research is that students get to develop their skills whilst giving back; meanwhile, the benefit to partner organisations is that your research needs are met - so it’s a uniquely double-edged benefit!
The next submission deadline for proposals by organisation is 30 September ahead of a living library scheduled for October. If you'd like to discuss an idea or suggestion for a research proposal then please do email or simply complete the online form to submitt your request.
