Vins El Cep is the result of a partnership formed by four families prominent Cava-producing families in Penedès. These four families, each with their own properties, which were established between 1448 and 1568, all share a long winegrowing and winemaking tradition. In 1980 they decided to join forces and created Vins El Cep.
 
Vins El Cep is a pioneer in the D.O. Cava, famous for the production of sustainably grown Cava, and they were the first in Spain to produce a biodynamically farmed Cava. Ninety percent of their vineyards are farmed organically, and since the end of 2003, they farm five hectares of vineyards biodynamically.
 
Their vineyards are planted with predominantly traditional native varieties used for Cava production; Xarel·lo, Macabeo, and Parellada, grown on limestone soils. The also grow international varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Besides sparkling wines, Vins El Cep also produces unique still white wines from Xarel·lo.
