Lots of mineral, crushed stone, iodine and graphite with blackcurrants and blackberries that follow through to a medium body with ultra fine tannins that are ever so polished and give length and energy to the wine. Drinkable now, but even better in 2023. (4/2021)

Starting with the 2016 Le Pauillac De Chateau Latour, which can be thought of as the entry level wine from this great estate, it checks in as a blend of 54.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38.9% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot. Showing similar to the last showing, it has a gorgeous Pauillac nose of blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, graphite, tobacco, and damp earth. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully textured, it shows the quality of this great vintage as well as plenty of classic Latour character, allbeit, in a much more upfront, charming style. It's drinking beautifully today yet my money is on it evolving for another two decades. (3/2021)

Château Latour ‧ 拉圖酒堡

Château Latour, located in the Medoc region of Bordeaux, France, is an ancient manor that has been mentioned as early as the 14th century. In 1855, it has been rated as one of France's top five ranking villages. The mature Château Latour has a rich layering, and the wine is full and delicate. As a famous connoisseur described it: "Château Latour is like a low and rich bass, rich and non-irritating, beautiful and rich in content. It is the moonlight that drops a silver through the layers of night ..."

When people mention the name Latour, they immediately think of sturdy defense towers. The legendary Saint-Maubert tower was built around the second half of the 14th century. In 1378, the name Château Latour "en Saint-Maubert" was entered into the annals, and the winery was renamed Château La Tour and then Château Latour. It was at the middle of the British-French Centennial War, and the British took control of the Saint-Maubert Tower. Château Latour has been ruled by the British since then, and only returned to the arms of the French after the Battle of Castillon on July 17, 1453. The history of the Saint-Maubert tower has become a mystery, as it no longer exists and no trace can be found. The existing tower has nothing to do with the original old tower. This tower is actually a stone-built pigeon house, which was built between 1620-1630.

Château Latour has always been highly regarded in the world. At the end of the eighteenth century, a barrel of Château Latour was already 20 times more expensive than a barrel of ordinary Bordeaux. In 1855 Château Latour was rated as a first class winery. Château Latour's existing castle was built during the "Golden Age" of 1862-1864. In 1963, the heir of Marquis Ségur sold 75% of Château Latour. The new shareholders are two British companies-"Harveys of Bristol" and "Hallminster Limited". After the new owner joined, the winery's vineyards and cellars were radically reformed: in the spring of 1963, Château Latour reclaimed two pieces of land on the outskirts of "Enclos" covering an area of ​​12.5 hectares for the production of a product called "Les Forts de Latour ". The entire vineyard is complemented by a large plantation. Since 1968, major improvements have been made to the drainage system, and tractors and new machinery have been specially introduced. In 1989, Allied Lyons bought other shares and became Château Latour's largest shareholder. In July 1993, Allied Lyons decided to sell his shares to Francois Pinault. After 30 years of British rule, Pinault, a businessman and entrepreneur, eventually returned Château Latour ownership to France.

Pauillac de Ch. Latour is the 3rd label of Latour. Its production is scarce, accounting for only one-tenth of Ch. Latour's annual production. The texture is light and smooth, with very fresh blackcurrant, smoke and berry aromas. It is a young and easy-to-drink wine, but it also has a 10-year aging strength. With the charm and style of Latour and Les Forts de Latour, the wines of Pauillac are more accessible. Parker believes that she is one of Bordeaux's most affordable options. The quality continues to improve every year, and it is also the purchase target specified by wine tasting experts.
