Greetings Spinners,

Here's a report from Spinner Carl reg last Tuesday's ride:

Eighteen riders showed up for beautiful weather and headed northwest. The Hammers were joined by Nick for the first time. The Rabbits were the largest group with the Wild Things and Cruisers following. First time joining us was Adam Lownik from New Orleans.

Several Spinners have been participating in the Long Range Transportation Plan over the last several months and now there is an opportunity for the public to review the document and provide input. This study includes all forms of transportation and not just bicycle issues. As cycling enthusiasts feel free to provide input as to what you would like to see happen in the future with bike & ped paths/bike lanes or better roads in the Stateline Area since the MPO (Municipal Planning Organization) covers parts of No. Illinois as well. If there are other transportation issues that need mentioning i.e. trains, buses etc. this is an opportunity to address those topics. Here is an email that further clarifies the study:

Following months of data analysis, stakeholder outreach, and project evaluation, the Stateline Area Transportation Study 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan Update is available in draft form for review. Once adopted, the plan (and subsequent updates) will guide transportation system investments in the Stateline area for the next two decades. The people of the Stateline area have helped craft a plan that responds to the needs and values of residents, employees, and visitors. You may have participated in public meetings or responded to public surveys about the issues you’d like to see addressed in the plan and your values for transportation system development in the region.  We appreciate your efforts.

Please take a few minutes to review the draft plan and send us any comments you may have. Visit  www.SLATS2045LRTP.com  and click on “Review Draft 2045 LRTP.” You can access the draft plan and find instructions for leaving comments with that link.

Comments received since August 30 and through September 28 will be reviewed and summarized prior to submitting a final draft plan to the SLATS Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Board for adoption at their meeting on October 4, 2021. There will be further opportunity to comment on the plan at the October 4 meeting prior to Board action.

On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, SLATS will host an open house for anyone who wants to discuss the plan in person. Details are on the website. Please forward this email to your networks and anyone you think may be interested in shaping the future of the Stateline’s transportation system.
