Our latest District Spotlight video looks at District G. This central district works to build accessibility into its community offerings. Each of the Leagues in the district work to improve accessibility to those who face challenges, whether due to age, mobility or socio-economic circumstances. And this work is bringing people who've left the district back "home."

It Took Leagues
SECLA set to celebrate park
All Leagues in the South East Community Leagues Association (SECLA) contributed to the South Fulton Ravine Park. You can't miss the park – the first phase is a vibrant skateboard park. The rest of the park has been in the works since. And on September 25, SECLA is throwing a grand opening for the project.

#CLDay21 is around the corner
Community League Day is your day. On September 18, the EFCL will work to visit your Community League Day events and grow awareness of Leagues and our purpose. More than 60 Leagues have registered events.

A Thanks And A Memory
Capsule anecdotes due September 26
On October 2, the EFCL will host a special event in Hawrelak Park to celebrate the volunteers who have been central to the Community League movement in Edmonton over the last 100 years.
We've invited Leagues to select a person to be recognized. We're also asking Leagues to submit anecdotes and memories to be added to our time capsule at the event. Submissions are due September 26.

Ask Your Election Questions
And prepare for a candidate event
What's your League's burning question for mayoral and council candidates before the election on October 18?
The EFCL is gathering questions and will pose them to candidates for you – and post their answers. We're also teaming up with a great group of partners to bring you an all-candidates mayoral discussion. Stay tuned for details.

Rink Season Is Coming
Community conversation series
Rink conversations are back. It’s time to talk about community skating rinks, snowbank rinks, boarded rinks, ice tips and vendor lists. Come and connect with other passionate rink makers and directors. These sessions were very popular last year, with participants expressing they felt supported and had a chance to share and learn from the community. Learn about booking tools and apps and learn about resources offered through the EFCL.

Free Play For Your League
EFCL partnership offers multi-sport programs at low cost
Free Play for Kids is teaming up with EFCL to offer multi sport programs. You can now book trained and certified coaches to run eight weeks of programming at your hall. Kids will learn the fundamentals of soccer, hockey, basketball and flag football. Free Play will provide all the equipment and handle all the COVID-19 safety measures.
Each session can accommodate 16 children and will cost $1,600, which is $100 per child. The League can pay or ask parents to contribute.
This is a social enterprise initiative by Free Play and all revenue raised will go back into their core programming to provide vulnerable and at risk youth.

The EFCL is reducing the administration fee for online membership sales on Community League Day weekend. One dollar. You can't beat it. So go out and sell those memberships.

We respectfully acknowledge the land upon which the EFCL operates is located on Treaty 6 Territory and has served a purpose as a traditional meeting ground for many First Nations groups. This territory has provided a traveling route and home to the Nakoda Sioux, and later, Blackfoot and Cree peoples, followed by Saulteaux and Métis and other Indigenous peoples.
