GAYography

LGBTQI World News, Advocacy & Virtual Travel & Events

All the Gay News That's Fit to Link

Made possible by Ashton, the GAYographer
Good morning <<First Name>>,

Taliban tortured the journalists above - sadly a likely fate for so many others in Afghanistan.

I think worth mentioning on the 20th anniversary: after 9/11 thousands of Americans signed up for the military, foreign service, and other government agencies - thousands of them signed up to literally die, in response to the deaths of 3,000 people.

Yet today, in response to over 650,000 deaths, millions of Americans can't even be bothered to take a shot that would not only prevent their deaths - but also those of others.

Please share,

Ashton

The singer of the song only some of us may remember - I Was Born This Way - and inspiration for the Gaga hit, Carl Bean, passed away this week at 77. Heard it before? I don't think I had! Listen here. Bean gave up a career with Motown and devoted his life to the church, and ministering for LGBTQ people, including supporting HIV causes. It was the first time lyrics were used in this way (before the Village People made disco explicitly gay!).
A gay saint? Gay Catholics hope to recognize the contributions of 9/11 hero Father Mychal Judge (the first recorded death that day). He served as a firefighter - but also ministered to the LGBTQ and community living with HIV. The Atlantic also includes an incredible piece about the aftermath suffered by just one family whose 27 year old son died that day. Still - 3,000 people will die today and tomorrow of COVID. Where will those lives be remembered?
COVID update: 1 in 8 Americans have contracted COVID - and one in 510 have died. If you're vaccinated, you have about a 1 in 5,000 chance of contracting COVID. Howard Stern had some choice words for anti-vaxxers and noted at least 4, who are right-wing talk radio hosts have died of COVID. Idaho now has to ration its healthcare and schools in Alabama recorded nearly 10,000 cases. I'm hopeful Biden's plan for businesses but I know it'll be a fight!

As we turn back the clock in the US, Mexico is finally advancing, decriminalizing abortion across the country.

In a joint statement with Biden, Ukraine's President pledged to fight anti-LGBTQ discrimination.

Missouri Democrats demand the return of an LGBTQ rights exhibit in the State Capitol, after the Governor claimed it was removed because it didn't have a board's approval (the board has never approved any exhibit there).

The Daily Beast exposes Catherine MacKinnon's hateful Labor Day op-ed calling OnlyFans a pimp!

Looking for Twinks for Trump? Head to Nashville this weekend, where self-hating gay MAGA leaders Ric Grenell and Aaron Schock headline (the Log Cabin crew isn't even allowed in Texas).

Get your latest COVID updates - Hong Kong is relaxing the most strict restrictions and Denmark has the highest vaccination rate in Europe.

I'll be headed to Folsom 2021 - or as it will now be known MEGAHOOD2021 (apparently its original name) on Sunday, Sept 26. Will I see you there,
<<First Name>>?
