All Post 6 membership - “Veterans Strengthening America”

Dear Comrades,

I hope all is well with you and your family. As construction of the new building comes to an end, we continue with punch list items. Maintenance is at the highest priority to ensure longevity for Post 6. We need consistent and active help in these areas today; kitchen & bar operations, communications systems, security systems, general cleaning, museum displays, grounds keeping, pond maintenance, public relations, & project management. When you have time to help out with these tasks stop on by and let someone know or e-mail the Adjutant at americanlegionpost6@gmail.com, we need you. Your time is valuable to us we will be as productive as possible when you are here. As with any operation, teams are the most valuable when taking on large tasks.

Chapel Hill American Legion Post 6 has a lot of history. As I sort through your donations to the museum, I am amazed. Awards, books, memorabilia, and photos educate me on our history. We are deeply rooted in Americanism and Patriotism. When America called upon its best, we answered unwaveringly. Age, race, nor heritage restricted us from protecting those to our left and right. We are the most tolerant and understanding group as veterans. Most of us signed the dotted line at a very young age. We fulfilled roles in dangerous positions, we completed high-level tasks as young adults. Most of us were entrusted with; explosives, armament, sensitive items, munitions, vehicles, and personnel. Team operations were of the utmost importance, every member had their role. We all learned that with discipline anything was possible. Large complex problems were easily overcome with team elements. We were all familiarized with operations to close with and destroy the enemy. We possess the skills as veterans to overcome any obstacle no matter the complexity. As we take on the enemy here back at home with mental health and physical illness winning the battle. I urge each and every one of you to believe in yourself. Remember the times when you were in top physical condition mentally prepared to take on the world. You are wanted and you are needed by your family your fellow legionnaires.

As we enter the holiday season the Post 6 officers want to let you know you are not alone. Financial instability and lack of health care drive a hard bargain during the holidays. We should not jeopardize either as we grapple with a COVID society. Throughout history we have been confronted with the “unknown” in many different forms. America has endured epidemics/pandemics in form of; Polio, Influenza Pandemic, Seventh Cholera pandemic, Hong Kong Flu, London Flu, Russia Flu, HIV/AIDS pandemic, SARS outbreak. It is only a matter of time before we can fully understand this virus' slow contraction and find a great treatment. We are ready and willing to do the work, fortunately, it is as easy as doing our part. Most all of us are vaccinated and continue to maintain a sanitary lifestyle while interacting with one another. We ask that we maintain this posture for future post events. I don’t think anyone knows for certain what the outcome may be, but we must be patient.
