United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation 2021


During the commemoration of the 2021 UN Day for South-South Cooperation, Member States, UN organizations and partners will be invited to discuss the role of South-South cooperation as a vital element in national strategies to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and to continue advancing towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) will host a High-level Panel Discussion on the theme “South-South cooperation: solidarity in support of a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable future”, to take place on Friday 10 September 2021, 9–11 a.m. (NY time). The event will include statements from UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the UN General Assembly H.E. Volkan Bozkirof, several Permanent Representatives of UN Member States, among others. The event will be webcast on http://webtv.un.org. More information about the day can be found «here».


Additionally, UNOSSC will host the following side events:
 
  • Launch of South-South Ideas paper: Institutionalization and impact assessment of South-South and triangular cooperation, key findings and recommendations from Southern think tanks (13 September 2021, 9:00–10:30 a.m. NY time), developed under the UNOSSC-UNDP South-South Global Thinkers initiative – A Global Coalition of Think Tank Networks for South-South Cooperation (SSC). Click «here» for more details.
