National response: Latest COVID-19 vaccination provider bulletin and resources
The Australian Government issued a COVID-19 vaccination provider bulletin on Tuesday 7 September, as well as a new vaccination promotion poster series.
Tasmanian response: Latest COVID-19 update from Tasmanian Goverment
The Tasmanian Government issued a COVID-19 update to general practices on Tuesday 7 September, including information about hay fever and COVID-19, and testing.

Public Health Services has also issued community advice that people who have hay fever symptoms, no matter how mild, should stay home, call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738, and arrange to get tested for COVID-19.

On returning a negative result, people are asked to contact their GP about controlling and/or managing their symptoms — and if new or additional symptoms develop, they will need to get tested again for COVID-19. 
National response: Compulsory Spikevax (Moderna) learning module
The Australian Department of Health has released an online learning module on the use of Spikevax (Moderna) COVID-19 vaccines in Australia.

The module is compulsory for all Moderna COVID-19 vaccination providers and can be completed via this registration link.
COVID-19 resources for people living with disability
Given Primary Health Tasmania's work in the four-year Primary Care Enhancement Program (PCEP) for People with Intellectual Disability — which aims to help improve health outcomes for people with intellectual disability and their families — we would like to share the following resources designed to support people with intellectual disability during the COVID-19 pandemic:
National response: COVID-19 Digital Certificate update
Currently, individuals are only able to access a COVID-19 Digital Certificate after they have received all required doses of a vaccine as approved for use in Australia.

Enhancements to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) will be implemented in mid-September to ensure individuals who have received a mixed vaccination schedule, in line with the ATAGI advice, can access a COVID-19 Digital Certificate.
National response: Services Australia guidance for pharmacists about AIR
Services Australia has published guidance for pharmacists about how to correctly record COVID-19 vaccines on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
Lulu immunisation books available for primary health organisations
Primary Health Tasmania still has a small supply of colourful and engaging Lulu books, designed to promote healthy foods and the benefits of immunisation for children.

Spring Asthma Packs available for health professionals
Asthma Australia advises the onset of spring is an important time for asthma patients, so invites health professionals to access a Spring Asthma Pack for Health Professionals to support their patients during this time.
Applications sought for Primary Health Tasmania Board directors
Applications remain open until 14 September for a number of elected director positions on Primary Health Tasmania's Board.

Industry skills sought include general practice, primary health care, health service design and delivery, as well as professional skills in finance and accounting.
Increase in chickenpox notifications

There has been a recent increase in notifications of varicella (chickenpox) infection in Tasmania, especially in the north of the state. Several of these infections have been reported in children who have only received a single dose of varicella vaccine.

Although not funded under the National Immunisation Program, a second dose of varicella vaccine can be purchased on a private script and is recommended to provide optimal protection.

New podcast about dementia for GPs, by GPs
Dementia in Practice is a new series of podcasts from Dementia Training Australia that features three GPs sharing their professional and personal experiences with dementia.
Sepsis education digital platform for health professionals
With World Sepsis Day approaching on 13 September, health professionals may wish to view the recently released dedicated sepsis education digital platform developed by the Australian Sepsis Network.
New My Health Record webinars and virtual classroom sessions
The Australian Digital Health Agency is hosting webinars and a series of CPD-accredited virtual classroom sessions demonstrating how providers can access My Health Record through various clinical information systems. 
Updated APNA online course about chronic conditions and fertility
The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) recently updated its free online course on the impact of chronic conditions and risk factors on fertility, and the subsequent impact on antenatal care.
Heart failure webinar
Inside Practice will host a webinar at 7.00pm on Tuesday 14 September about heart failure, including an overview of the latest surgical and non-surgical interventions.
Workplace culture webinar
Simon Thiesson, who recently presented at the HR+ practice manager and receptionist conferences, will host a free webinar from 10.00am to 11.30am on Friday 17 September exploring workplace culture and the impact it has on results.
World Heart Day webinar
The Heart Foundation, alongside the World Heart Federation and the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia, will host a webinar on World Heart Day (Wednesday 29 September) at 8.00pm to explore clinical updates in hypertension.
General practice staff sought for Voluntary Patient Registration research
A University of Sydney research team is conducting stakeholder consultation to inform 
development of questions about disability for possible inclusion in a Voluntary Patient Registration (VPR) form for general practice.

The Australian Government is considering introducing VPR so that people can choose to register with their general practice and nominate their preferred GP. The VPR form will include optional questions to record selected information about patients, including disability.

Researchers are inviting up to two GPs and/or practice nurses and two non-clinical staff from practices to participate in a one-hour focus group during September.
