As our Choirmaster Nicholas Pothier begins working with the Emmanuel choir, you'll see some expansions in the Mass to include more music over the next weeks. We've had a lot of positive experience with people actively using our current easier-to-follow bulletin, which will gain an insert for music and announcements this Sunday the 12th. Anthems from the choir will start on September 19th, at which time we'll move the congregational hymn from the Offertory to the Entrance to make room. If all goes well, soon after we'll also add service music. It's a great feeling to be expanding our liturgy, and I pray regularly that more people will see the inestimable value of committing to receive the Real Presence of Jesus and hear the Word of God here at Emmanuel each and every Sunday.

This Week's Highlights
GROCERY PANTRY DONATIONS
Emmanuel members personally deliver groceries each week to a hungry local family, in partnership with empty tomb, and we are now collecting food to share once again! You can drop nonperishable donations (for now) on the counter in the Great Hall. Want to learn more or be a deliverer? Contact Coordinator Lois Rath at edlorath@comcast.net or (217) 369-7026. When we feed the hungry, we feed Christ.

DISCIPLESHIP FOR MEN
The Emmanuel Men’s Group has resumed and welcomes all men to join them Tuesdays on Zoom for their Bible study series on the Life and Teachings of Jesus. Begin at 7 a.m., end before 8 - plenty of time to discover the power of God's Word!  Here is the Zoom link.

ALTAR FLOWERS
Flowers on the altar add to the beauty of our liturgies, and we now again offer the chance to donate a set in memory of or in thanksgiving for someone, on a date meaningful to you. Our florist Blossom Basket bills donors for the cost of arrangements ($60) directly. Please contact the office for available dates (even if you have given before; since it has been 18 months, Mary is starting from scratch to create an accurate list.)

YOUNG ADULT PUB THEOLOGY
Tonight's the night, folks. Join Marisa at 7 p.m. at the Blind Pig Brewery in downtown Champaign for our Fall 2021 inaugural session of Pub Theology: Bible and Beverages. As you might expect, we're reading the Bible — starting with the Gospel of Luke. Take a look at the first two chapters for this evening's session. Or read the whole thing for bonus points! Questions? Get in touch with Marisa at 765-986-1146.

DEFEAT ALS
Support our Emmanuelites on the “Page’s ALS Challenge” team as they to Walk To Defeat ALS on Saturday morning, September 25th at Morrissey Park. To register for the Champaign Walk or make a donation, visit bit.ly/PagesALSteam . For questions, call Lori Dobrik at 621-6649 or Kathy Aquino at 840-4587.

IDA RELIEF
Episcopal Relief and Development works with local partners on hurricane relief. If you are moved to donate to support those affected by Ida, ERD is a trustworthy channel. Give at

OFFICE HOURS

The church office is now being staffed from 9-12 on weekdays. Having seen a number of benefits to Mary doing some of her work from home, we will be monitoring how adding more in-office time is working.

IN A PASTORAL EMERGENCY - If you or a family member are in the hospital or have another personal emergency, please let the clergy know; they are ready to visit or assist. If the office is closed, please leave the information (including which hospital) in one of their personal office voicemail boxes or on a home phone. Emmanuel can also arrange to have meals provided; just ask!

SCHEDULE INFORMATION -
Emmanuel's ministry staff seek health for both themselves and the parish culture by taking regular time off. MOTHER BETH is off on Fridays. MARISA CROFTS is off on Mondays. DEACON CHRIS is in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Voice mail may be left in their boxes at any time.

OFFICE HOURS -
The church office is open roughly 9-12 weekday mornings currently, as well as by appointment. At other times our staff will continue fulfilling all their ministry responsibilities from home, including actively responding to email and phone messages.
