MESSAGE FROM DANIEL

Dear friends in Christ, peace be with you, I hope you are well and that you and your families enjoyed a restful Labor Day Weekend. Also, happy Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary! Through her intercession, may we all learn how to be better disciples of Jesus!

We had our first Ministry Professionals Gathering of the year this past Thursday and I want to thank Deacon David Camous, Director of the Permanent Diaconate, for an outstanding day. This was one of the best workshops we have offered and it would be well worth offering again. If you were unable to attend but would like to attend an encore in the future, please let me know.

Next Ministry Professionals Gathering: Canon Law for Parish Personnel, October 7, 2021, St. Isaac Jogues
What does Canon Law have to do with evangelization and catechesis? A lot! Our next Ministry Professionals Gathering is our rescheduled day on Canon Law for parish personnel and will be led by our judicial vicar, Fr. Fernando Gil. Fr. Gil will cover everything from what Canon Law says about hospitality and greeting people who seek the Sacraments to accompanying people through the annulment process. We invite everyone to attend, including administrative assistants, receptionists, marriage coordinators, parish catechetical and youth minister leaders, deacons, and more.

Answer the Call – Retreats for Catechists, Liturgical Ministers, Volunteers, and all Catholics!
“Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.” (Deus Caritas Est, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, 1). As you have seen, many people who have been baptized and confirmed and who dedicate much of their time to the Church have not had such an experience. The purpose of these retreats is to address this reality by helping everyone in ministry recognize that Jesus is not just an idea, He is a personal God who draws near to us and wants to remain always with us. We invite everyone in your parish, especially volunteers involved in ministry, to attend these Answer the Call retreats so that they can come to know Jesus in a profound way.

Our first Answer the Call retreat of the year is coming up on September 18 at St. Mary of the Lakes in Eustis, FL. Cost is $15 and lunch is included.

Where: St. Mary of the Lakes, Eustis, FL
When: Saturday, September 18, 9:00am - 2:00pm
