#1. Federal Elections 2021

In the past 5 years, Canada has become the site for two mass shootings targeting Muslims in North America. Community building and community safety in the age of rising hate, Islamophobia, and white supremacy has been at the forefront of our minds.

The 2021 federal election presents a timely opportunity for Canadian Muslims to have their concerns voiced. Through voting, we elect officials and policymakers that address our needs and concerns in the office. The same policymakers that when elected will strengthen Canadian democracy by ensuring the final outcome is a truer reflection of an inclusive Canadian society.

Advance polling begins on Friday, September 10 and ends on Monday, September 13. We highly encourage our community to exercise their rights to vote during this period.

AMA is a non-partisan, community oriented organization. We cannot recommend any party or candidate in the elections.

However, to help you prepare for the advance polling, the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) has created a guide that summarizes key domestic and foreign issues your local candidate should address in this election.

Furthermore, we are currently in the process of organizing a question and answer session to provide an opportunity for  Ottawa-South candidates to present their platforms.

Please fill out this 5-minute survey to share the concerns and questions you would like Ottawa-South candidates to address.
