- Jaclyn Francis: Jaclyn has asked for prayers on behalf of her best friend, Hannah, and her mom Sheila Whiteford, who is fighting both brain cancer and MS, and is now hospitalized with COVID-19.
- Victor & Judi Labenske: Victor & Judi ask that you pray for PLNU and all schools returning for the Fall - for wisdom and stamina for students, teachers, support staff and administrators.
- Afghanistan: The upsetting news from Afghanistan over the last couple weeks has caused many in our congregation to ask, "what can I do to help?". Fortunately, there are many organizations actively assisting our Afghan brothers and sisters in a variety of ways. Locally, Jewish Family Service (JFS) is helping refugees resettle here in San Diego.
There are a couple ways that we can participate. Donating funds to JFS helps them buy expensive items such as furniture, obtain gift cards to halal grocery stores, and purchase other necessary items for people who have fled with so few material possessions. If you feel called to volunteer, you can help JFS in their ongoing work to find housing for refugees, deliver furniture, and help people navigate a new city. You can read more details about these opportunities here: www.jfssd.org/afghan-evacuation/
Separately, if you operate an Airbnb, that company has a program where you can temporarily house refugees. You can find more information about that here: www.airbnb.org/refugees
If you have a prayer request you would like to share, either privately with the church staff or with the SDFC community, please contact the church office at church@sdfcnaz.com or (619) 849-3100.
