In diesem ersten Newsletter nach dem Sommer möchten wir Ihnen gerne einen Überblick über das geben, woran wir gerade arbeiten.
Unser großes Förderprogramm TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund, das wir seit 2017 gemeinsam mit dem Dachverband Tanz Deutschland realisieren, ist in die 3. Förderrunde gegangen. Bis Mitte August konnten sich Akteur:innen der Tanzszene mit Konzepten bewerben, die zur künstlerischen wie strukturellen Weiterentwicklung, Stärkung und Profilierung der Kunstform Tanz in Deutschland beitragen. Unserer erfahrenen Juror:innen Lisa Besser, Matthias Quabbe, Cornelia Walter, Yoreme Waltz und Katharina von Wilcke werden Anfang Oktober über die eingegangenen Anträge entscheiden.
Wir freuen uns, dass wir Claudia Feest, Sven Neumann, Georg Reischl und Nicole Strecker als Juror:innen für die zweite Ausschreibung unseres Corona-Hilfsprogramms TANZPAKT RECONNECT im Rahmen von NEUSTART KULTUR gewinnen konnten. Sie werden Ende September über die eingereichten Konzepte diskutieren und ihre Empfehlungen zur Förderung aussprechen.
Ein wunderbares Projekt, das diesen Oktober zu Ende geht, ist das Open-Air-Programm INS FREIE!, das die Verlegung bestehender Spielstätten nach draußen und neue Pop-Up Spielstätten im Freien fördert. Wir haben dieses Förderprogramm im Auftrag des Hessischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst (HMWK) konzipiert und umgesetzt und sind stolz darauf, 106 Projekte in Hessen mit insgesamt 10.2 Mio. Euro ins Freie bringen zu können.
Und nicht zuletzt blicken wir zurück auf einen fantastischen Sommer für unser Dance On Ensemble, das mit dem neuen Programm „Making Dances – Dancing Replies“ zuerst im Radialsystem in Berlin und dann auf dem Festival Julidans in Amsterdam vom Publikum gefeiert wurde. „So öffnete ‚Dancing Replies‘ einen spannenden Blick darauf, wie unterschiedlich Tanz gelesen werden kann, wie Material weitergereicht wird, wie Bedeutung entsteht und vergeht“, schrieb Katrin Bettina Müller in der taz (12. Juli 2021). Standing Ovations gab es auch für die Premiere unserer Koproduktion mit Jan Martens „any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones“ auf dem Festival d`Avignon. Das Erfolgsstück tourt seitdem international. Die nächsten Vorstellungen sind auf dem La Bâtie – Festival in Genf und im Teatro Municipal do Porto, Porto zu sehen.
Willkommen bei DIEHL+RITTER
Sehr herzlich möchten wir Anja Göbel in unserem Team begrüßen. Anja hat viele Jahre im Bereich Filmerbe und im deutsch-französischen Kulturaustausch gearbeitet, bevor sie 2016 die Leitung des Goethe-Zentrums Kampala in Uganda übernahm. Anschließend war sie Projektmanagerin bei der Forecast Plattform für ein europäisches Kooperationsprojekt zur Talentförderung in Architektur und Design. Seit Frühjahr 2021 verstärkt sie unser Team im Finanzmanagement der Förderfonds und als Projektkoordinatorin für INS FREIE!.
Wir freuen uns sehr, Simone Graf als künstlerische Produktionsleiterin für das Dance On Ensemble in unserem Team begrüßen zu dürfen. Simone arbeitete u.a. für PACT Zollverein, die Forecast Plattform und Tanz im August. 2020 übernahm sie die Redaktionsleitung für die Publikationen der 11. Berlin Biennale und 2021 die Redaktion für das 70-jährige Jubiläum der Berliner Festspiele. Seit Juni 2019 ist sie außerdem als freischaffende Produktionsleiterin für die Berliner Choreografin und Performerin Claire Vivianne Sobottke tätig.
Christian Koch unterstützt seit April 2021 unser Team im Bereich Finanzverwaltung und Controlling. Seit 20 Jahren arbeitet er in verschiedenen Konstellationen und Funktionen mit Künstler:innen und Künstlerkollektiven zusammen sowie als Kurator von Kunstprojekten, Autor und Herausgeber von Publikationen zu Kunst, Kulturwissenschaften und -politik. Er lehrt im Bereich Kulturmanagement an der Universität Witten/Herdecke und der Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen. Seit September 2021 ist er Mitglied der Leitung des Theater im Depot in Dortmund. Wir sind sehr froh, einen so erfahrenen Kollegen bei uns begrüßen zu dürfen.

In this first newsletter after the summer break, we would like to give you an update on the projects we are currently working on.
Our large-scale funding programme TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund (DANCE PACT Local-Regional-National), which we have been leading together with the umbrella organisation for dance in Germany Dachverband Tanz since 2017, has entered its third round of funding. Dance professionals and organisations could apply until the mid-August deadline, proposing concepts that would strengthen the artistic and structural development of dance as an art form in Germany. Our experienced jury members Lisa Besser, Matthias Quabbe, Cornelia Walter, Yoreme Waltz and Katharina von Wilcke will decide on the applications they have received at the beginning of October.
We are also pleased to announce that Claudia Feest, Sven Neumann, Georg Reischl and Nicole Strecker have been appointed as jury members for the second funding round of our rescue and support programme TANZPAKT RECONNECT, which is part of NEUSTART KULTUR. They will evaluate the submitted concepts and make their recommendations for funding at the end of September.
A wonderful project that will conclude this October is the open air programme INS FREIE!, which helps arts venues move their activities outdoors and supports new pop-up venues and open air locations. We conceived and implemented this funding programme on behalf of the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts (HMWK) and are proud to have allocated 10.2 million euros of funding to 106 outdoor projects in Hessen.
And last but not least, we look back on a fantastic summer for our Dance On Ensemble, which celebrated the premiere of its new programme “Making Dances – Dancing Replies” with live audiences at Radialsystem in Berlin and Julidans in Amsterdam. Katrin Bettina Müller of the taz wrote on 12th July 2021: “’Dancing Replies’ offered a thrilling view of the different ways in which dance can be read: how material is passed on, how meaning emerges and fades away.” The premiere of our coproduction with Jan Martens “any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones” at the Avignon Festival also received standing ovations. The piece has been touring internationally since then and can be seen next at La Bâtie festival in Geneva and at the Teatro municipal do Porto in Porto.

We would also like to offer a warm welcome to Anja Göbel. Anja worked in the field of film heritage and Franco-German cultural exchange for many years, before taking over the management of the Goethe Centre in Kampala, Uganda, in 2016. She then worked as project manager at the Forecast Platform, leading a European cooperation project promoting talent in architecture and design. She joined our team in the spring of 2021 and works in financial management for the promotion funds and as project coordinator for INS FREIE!.
We are delighted to welcome Simone Graf, our new artistic producer for the Dance On Ensemble. Simone has previously worked for PACT Zollverein, Forecast Plattform and Tanz im August, among other projects. In 2020 she edited the catalogue of the 11th Berlin Biennale and in 2021 she managed the publication celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Berliner Festspiele. Since 2019 she has also represented the Berlin choreographer and performer Claire Vivianne Sobottke as a freelance producer.
Christian Koch joined our team in April 2021 to support us with financial management and controlling. He has worked with artists and artist collectives in various contexts and constellations for the last 20 years, while also curating art projects and writing and editing publications on art, cultural studies and cultural policy. He teaches arts administration at the University Witten/Herdecke and the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In 2021, he joined the management team of the Theater im Depot in Dortmund. We are delighted to welcome such an experienced colleague to our team.
