Individual Merit Award

Gaining by far the most nominations, the Individual Merit Award will be presented to Travis Ludlow. The AOPA Board decided that this was more appropriate than the AOPA Contribution to the Community Award. The award will be presented on Saturday 18th September.

Best Aerodrome Award

For the Best Aerodrome award it was a very close call between Isle of Wight Airport, Sandown, and presented Aerodrome. It has been decided by the presented  that the Best Aerodrome award will be presented to Isle of Wight Airport, Sandown. Subject to weather being suitable for flying in, Airport Manager
Dan Subhani will be presented with the award on Saturday 18th September.

Lennox-Boyd Trophy

This trophy is awarded to a person, club, group or organisation who has contributed significantly to the furtherance of general aviation, flight training, club flying or piloting standards. The trophy is a cup in a special presentation box that was originally given to the Association of British Aero Clubs by the late Rt Hon Alan Lennox-Boyd PC CH MP (subsequently Viscount Boyd of Merton) in 1953.

The trophy is to be awarded to the Light Aircraft Association for their contribution to General Aviation for the past 75 years. The award will be presented on Saturday 18th September.

Instructor of the Year Award

The Instructor of the Year Award will be presented jointly to Matt Lane And Steve Caryer, who set up a free online service to pilots who needed to extend their ratings during COVID lockdown. They helped over 250 Pilots and raised around £7,000 from voluntary charitable donations. The award will be presented at a later date when convenient to Matt and Steve.
