God Can

2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NASB®)
We have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.

Do you believe that God can? I do. “God can _____.” Just fill in the blank. God can heal our bodies. God can mend our relationships. God can deliver us from destructive habits. God can make a way where there is no way. I have seen Him do it again and again. That doesn’t mean that everyone is delivered from the consequences of sin—their own or that of other people who touch their lives. That doesn’t mean everything I’ve asked for has happened. But I absolutely do believe in praying and inviting God into the midst of our circumstances. Yes, we are fragile earthen vessels, but it is in our very fragility and brokenness that His greatness and power are truly seen. Are we afflicted? Yes. Crushed? No! Are we perplexed? Yes. Despairing? No! Persecuted? Yes. Forsaken? No! Struck down? Yes. Destroyed? Absolutely not!

THINK ABOUT IT
Telling God that you believe He can do all things in any circumstance releases your heart to trust His plan and His timing. It also brings you to a place of tremendous peace in the midst of the storm.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, when my trust in what You can or will do wavers in the midst of trouble, may Your Holy Spirit encourage me to proclaim, “My God can!” You are God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth—worthy of all trust and praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.
