Automation Booms After COVID
Ideally, automation can redeploy workers into better and more interesting work. Past experience suggests that such automation waves eventually create more jobs than they destroy, but that they also disproportionately wipe out less skilled jobs that many low-income workers depend on.

The pandemic has put many parts of the economy into a tailspin — but some jobs and sectors are in high demand, opening up opportunities for those looking for a new career.  According to a recent poll from KPMG, 70 per cent of Canadian businesses are struggling to find skilled talent, with the health-care, food and transportation industries in most need. 

New Deals Tentatively Reached for Canada Post Workers
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has voted to ratify tentative two-year extension agreements for employees including mail carriers and delivery drivers. The union says the workers will also see wage increases but they didn’t say by how much.

Economic Recovery Continues as 90,000 Jobs Added in August
Statistics Canada says gains in the service sector pushed employment there back to pre-pandemic levels for the first time, although some areas are still lagging, such as retail and food services.
