Normally this time of year is all about the nice weather and the buzz: the art awards , the exhibitions, the art fairs, and dinners in the NT catching up with art centre family and friends and welcoming new ones. Sadly, we missed many of you again this year so we thought we'd share the highlights and some of those cool night vibes.

Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre creates a new mural for the 2021 Mparntwe Street Art Festival
Mparntwe (Alice Springs) now has its first Hermannsburg School mural located at the YHA (Leichardt Terrace). The Iltja Ntjarra artists juxtaposed in their work natural landscapes with consumer culture, highlighting its impact on Country and lifestyle. The use of a mobile-phone camera was intended to "remind visitors to look and remember, but not to destroy what is around" (Vanessa Inkamala).

Through the veil of time - NATSIAA 2021
It was another standout year for the Iltja Ntjarra artists in this year's NATSIAA. We celebrate award-winners Hubert Pareroultjaand Mervyn Rubuntja (Wandjuk Marika 3D Memorial Award).
Judge’s comments:this immersive work Through the veil of time transported the judging panel to the Central Desert, and allowed us to experience Country through the eyes of the Hermannsburg School. Traditionally small-scale watercolourists, we were excited to see the artists working collaboratively and scaling up the size of their work.

Alice Springs CBD to enjoy five new large works by Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre
We are excited to announce the acquisition of five major works by the Alice Springs Town Council.
The five works, developed in collaboration with Judith Lovell and Lorraine St Claire at CDU, David from Plazart, and with support from the NT Department of Industry and Trade, have been painted on steel panels for outdoor installation.
“It was a special process and a special painting because we painted holy places for us. We are amazed that all of our steel panels will be hung in the centre of Mparntwe. Our artworks and talent will be shown to, and recognised by the people of Mparntwe and beyond." Dellina Inkamala
