Playing with Music: Improvising through the Ages

The course explores the practice of improvisation ranging from Renaissance and Baroque embellishment through folk and jazz genres to free contemporary improvisation. Open to any instrumentalists and singers of upper intermediate and advanced standard.

The Grandeur of St Mark's: Venetian Sacred Music by Cavalli from his "Musiche Sacre" of 1656

This course for chamber choir, baroque strings and continuo explores Cavalli’s magnificent collection “Musiche Sacre”, which includes splendid eight-part double choir pieces with instruments, several smaller scale vocal pieces, and some excellent instrumental canzonas.

Call to Audition for Benslow Music's Baroque Project
Music for St Cecilia by Handel and Draghi
31 October to 4 November 2021

An inspiring opportunity to participate in a performance of well-known and lesser-known Baroque music with period instruments.
 
We are looking to recruit singers to put together a concert performance to a public audience, including Draghi’s From Harmony (A Song for St Cecilia’s Day 1687) and Handel’s Ode for St Cecilia's Day (HWV 76) in just four days.

Roles Available: Tenor, Countertenor and Bass

Deadline for submission of video audition is Friday 1 October 2021 at 16:00 GMT
