September - A new start of the year
With the start of every new season, we start again with a fresh and new team. Where some of the experienced members will stay, others will be completely new to the team. This means that there is a lot to learn, think about the team, the competition rules and about the car. To make sure everyone can get up to speed and start on their assignments, we will hold the notorious 'rule quiz'. A quiz that tests the team's overall knowledge about the rules, which they need before they can start their designs. 

The team
Let us first introduce ourselves. We are the URE16 board, consisting of: Joos Kat - Team manager, Noah Arets - Project manager, Jorick Martens - Production manager, Luc Buijtels - Driverless manager, Danick Triantis - Electrical manager. Together with 60+ part-timers, we form the new URE of the 2021/2022 season.

With the relaxation of the measures, we will be able to go work in our workshop again. By moving away from the online environment we will create a close and strong team to start the new year. Being able to meet your team in a real-life setting will help improve on the distribution of teams knowledge, but also on sharing URE's rich culture and history. From this day on, everyone will start with their assignments with the goal of keeping our top spot on the podium in the summer of 2022.

A short recap

After a summer not being able to race (2019/2020), we were finally allowed to race again and what a season it has been! The team has earned some fantastic results in the three competitions we have participated in this year. We had a fantastic start at FSNetherlands, where we finished second overall with a new team record score. For the second event, we had the statics of FSSwitzerland online. Here we managed to finish just beside the podium with fourth place. To finish our season strong, we finished first overall in FSSpain driverless competition. These results would not have been possible without the team’s hard work and the help of all our partners.

However as explained earlier, our latest and most successful racecar, the URE15, completely burnt down during a test day. Our driver was able to leave the vehicle in time, aided by the many safety systems of the car. Although the fire brigade was quickly on the spot, the car burned out completely. Luckily, everyone was unharmed. We will miss the URE15, our most successful car yet. Two years of hard work, cumulating in a successful racing season with our first competition win ever, winning the DV class at FSS. But we will come back stronger with the URE16.
