In this newsletter, we want to let you know about Carers Rights Day 2021. It is being held on 25 November, and aims to bring organisations and carers across the UK together to help unpaid carers to know their rights, know what is support is available to them and to help raise awareness.

We have lots for you to read this newsletter as well as lots of places you can go for support and information. As always, we are here to help you, just give us a call on 0800 368 8349.

Introducing...Alice!
Alice is the Communications Officer for Carer Support Dorset and helps to look after the website and social media for us. Alice shares a few of the places she's been to lately! She recently went to Monkey World, and had the best day making some new friends. Alice also attended the Bourne Free Pride parade with her partner for the first time and loved putting all her rainbows on. Alice has a pet rabbit named Fae, who is extremely mischievous but makes up for it with the best cuddles.
Carer Support Dorset in Dorchester!
Abi, our Young Carer Coordinator, and Poppy, our Lead Carer Adviser, visited Kingston Maurward College for a Freshers Fair in September to raise awareness of young carers and spread the word that Carer Support Dorset is here for young carers.
Carer Support Dorset in Weymouth!
Poppy visited Weymouth College a few days later for another Freshers Fair and spoke to lots of students about everything Carer Support Dorset can do for young carers!
Carer Support Dorset in Bridport & Lyme regis!
Abi was working with LUNG Theatre and Bridport Arts Centre in September on the tour of 'Who Cares' - a theatre performance about young carers. They delivered a workshop to students at The Woodroffe School and The Sir John Colfox Academy. Find out more about the performance here and you can listen to the radio recording of the show here as well.
Carers Rights Day is held on 25 November 2021

What is Carers Rights day?
It is a day that is held by Carers UK each year that aims to help unpaid carers to know their rights and what support they are entitled to. For example, the fact that young carers are entitled to a Care Act Carers Assessment.

What is going on this Carers Rights Day?
On Thursday 25 November 2021 we are celebrating Carers Rights Day with lots of other organisations across Dorset at a Carers Festival. More information can be found on our website and social media! We will be posting lots on our platforms so keep up-to-date with us there.

What can I do on Carers Rights Day?
The best way for you to spread the word about unpaid carers is to talk about them and raise awareness. Talk about caring to your family, friends and teachers. Young carers matter and we, at Carer Support Dorset, know that you do an amazing job and want you to be recognised and valued. Find out what support you might be entitled to by visiting our website or getting in contact with us, or visiting Carers UK's website to find out how you can get involved this Carers Rights Day.

Pokémon Go
When I am feeling overwhelmed or like I need to change my headspace, I put on my trainers and go for long walks to catch new creatures on Pokémon Go! It is a really fun way to get out and about, be immersed in nature and get some time to think and process my thoughts.
