September 2021

     Colby & Lynne Kinser
     Superintendent

Luke did not give his second letter to Theophilus, the commonly used title The Acts of the Apostles - it was added later. A better title would be The Acts of the Holy Spirit. When you read the book looking for the Spirit, you find Him as the hero and strategist of every positive move for the Kingdom. We must not make the same mistake and call our churches The Acts of Pastors and Elders, but rather The Acts of the Holy Spirit Continued.

Please contend with me in prayer:

Praises for God's goodness:
  • For the Spirit's leadership being followed by district churches. Pray for more still!
  • A wonderful few days for new District Superintendents to focus on self-care habits and tooling ourselves for the long haul. I'm grateful that the national office invests so thoughtfully in their superintendents.
  • You may have heard, the Kearney, NE office was listed to be sold. We received a contract the first day, and we are scheduled to close no later than September 30. Thanks to the Lord for how the office has served us well, and how the proceeds will serve us going forward.
  • Hope EFC in Kearney, NE has agreed to allow us office space in a true win-win arrangement.
  • Personal visits with Christ Community Brookside, KS (Bill Gorman), Hope Kearney, NE (Eric Jones), Highland Park, NE (Mike Escen), Victory Road EFC, Norfolk, NE (guest preaching for Mike Vincent on sabbatical), Christ Community Multi-campus, KS (and 1-1 with Tom Nelson), e3Partners (Curtis Sergeant), Grace Fellowship, Kansas City, MO (Dan Brown). The Church Revitalization course will provide helpful tools for several churches whether or not they need revitalization.

Asking God to accomplish:
  • Continued conversations with an African church in KC about affiliation. We'll keep the name unpublished until they are officially presented as a candidate church if the Lord wills. The church is mostly refugees, so pray for their needs for clothing, housewares, and a new location for their worship services for 150 people.
  • There is still a vacancy for the treasurer for the district board and needing more board members for the Foundation.
  • For God to provide more contacts with more potential donors.
  • We are still praying about a possible pastors and wives retreat this year (or one per state).
  • Conversations with leaders in Multiplying Kingdom Communities (MKC) and Disciplemaking Movements (DMM) to explore alternative strategies for reaching the smaller communities in the district with the Gospel.

September events:
  • Speak at Advice & Aid (a crisis pregnancy center in KC) on 9/2.
  • Meet with elders of an African church in KC about affiliation (9/4).
  • Preach at Clearwater, KS EFC (9/5).
  • Preach at York, NE EFC (9/12).
  • Office furniture and equipment giveaway at the District office in Kearney, NE (9/17).
  • Foundation meeting in Seward, NE (9/18)
  • Preach at Trinity in Holdrege, NE (9/19).
  • Missional Summit in Minneapolis, MN (9/20-23).
  • Kearney, NE office closing (9/30).
