Commander's Note No.2, 1 Sep 2021

All Post 6 membership - “Veterans Strengthening America”

Dear Comrades,
I hope my note finds you and your family well. I am extremely excited to be your Post Commander. The team and I aim to serve you with honor and pride. Our team is ready and willing to help all veterans. We hold our members' health and welfare at the highest standard. If you or your spouse have needs, please bring it to the team's attention. Our family is large as we have the facility to match. Still we continue to build with the Auxiliary, Legion Riders & the future Sons of the American Legion. Our future is dynamic, and we live in trying times. Many have been shaken and angered by today's current events. I am deeply saddened about our recent loss of American Military service members in Afghanistan. From a strategic standpoint we failed our service members & allies in a tremendous way. Albeit our Air Force has worked around the clock to mass evacuate American citizens, active-duty military, and our allies we still have a long road ahead. Please keep all our brothers and sisters deployed in your prayers.

We will not forget their sacrifice. I must remind you- our oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America does not have an expiration date. By no means should we lose sight of that. The upcoming September 11th “We Remember” event marks 20 years we have been at war. A day of tragedy and tremendous heartache forged this country’s unshakable unity. Our first responders stood gallantly ready and capable of rescuing as many survivors as possible. This country stood together selflessly under ONE flag. in this war where many war fighters have grown old and come home. A war where their children have matured and selflessly decided to serve our country. History has a way of repeating itself and we look to you as mentors. A large portion of our membership served or have family that served in Vietnam during the fall of Saigon.

Please reach out to our younger members who served in theater. A good conversation goes a long way. Like one hand washes the other we need each other. The monthly meeting of September will mark our first ever themed concept. We would like our members to bring one or two photos with a short story explaining the photo. It will be called “blast from the past” it should promote patriotism and showcase your military service. We would like to preserve our post members’ history so full participation is highly encouraged. Our PEC has been extremely busy building and maintaining the post. Unfortunately, a lot of work is being done by few people. We ask that you get involved with our committees and help us grow. Some projects are awaiting your involvement and we urge inactive members to participate. As an all-volunteer organization we hope to do more for the veteran community.

We have limitless opportunities with our facility. The possibilities are endless if we work together. We must first plan the work then work the plan. PEC meetings are open to all members; come sit in to see how business is conducted. We are happy to serve you and we want to get to know you. God bless you and your family.
