Tweet of The Week

Jenna Jordan @JennaJrdn
_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Alt Text: Tweet from Jenna Jordan "🎉I have news!🎉 This summer I developed a Carpentries-style workshop on interactive data visualizations in python utilizing the @pandas_dev@plotlygraphs, and @streamlit libraries. Now that lesson is part of @thecarpentries Incubator! Check it out  https://carpentries-incubator.github.io/python-interactive-data-visualizations/index.html

This lesson is so brand new, the paint is still wet. Which means that I would love for other
@thecarpentries instructors to take it for a test drive and send feedback or report issues. Or just read through the lesson plan and let me know what you think!"

Teaching Tips from The Carpentries Instructor Trainers

From: Liz Stokes, Mark Laufersweiler

Think about the pre-workshop zone: the 15 minutes or so before a workshop starts. At about 10 minutes in, line up a cheerful playlist and use share screen>advanced>share computer audio to set a different environment for your learners. Good choices are big band or chilled grooves, but follow your heart! This avoids the awkward "I've entered a zoom with strangers should I turn my video on yet" and covers any unmuted gaffes by participants as well. You could lead in to a favourite song icebreaker, but obviously this is optional!
