Moving Forward

New Project Milestones
On September 2, the Colony Park Sustainable Community reached an important milestone with five City of Austin Council agenda items approved on consent. These items allow City staff in the Economic Development Department to continue pressing forward with major infrastructure, consultant and master development goals. More importantly, it moves us closer to fulfilling the vision and community benefits set by residents for the 208-acres in Colony Park.

We're excited to share that one of the approved agenda items launches the development of a new Health and Wellness Center. Austin City Council has approved an interlocal agreement with Central Health to design and build a new Health and Wellness Center on 2.28 acres on Loyola Lane and it will include an array of services. Currently, temporary health services are offered at the Northeast Health Resource Center (NEHRC) at Barbara Jordan Elementary.

Stay tuned as we work towards reimagining new possibilities in Colony Park!

Colony Loop Drive

Neighborhood Partnering Program & Safe Routes to School

The Neighborhood Partnering Program and Safe Routes to School have completed the projects located at Colony Loop Drive and Siepel Drive. The new sidewalk and pedestrian island will provide a safer route for children and residents to cross the busy intersection.

Along with these improvements, the new entryway leading to Colony Park District Park has been completed. Over the months of October and November new lighting, irrigation, and landscaping are expected to be complete.

Thank you to all the community members who supported this project. Be sure to check out the latest improvements in the neighborhood!

Water Line Replacement Project

Austin Water & Public Works Department

Austin Water and Public Works Department are excited to announce that the cement water pipe and waste water line replacement on East Meadow Bend Drive were completed on Tuesday, September 14. All services to the area have now been connected and the streets have been paved.

The completion date for the Carwill Drive project is set for the end of September. All services are currently connected. Street paving and sidewalk repairs were completed the week of September 6. The only remaining work at this site location are private water service relocations set for completion at the end of the month.

We appreciate your patience and support with these projects.

Colony Park Pool

Austin Parks & Recreation Department
Austin Parks & Recreation Department has revised the design entrance for the Colony Park Aquatic Facility. Changes to the pool design include a shade cover to the building entrance as a translucent roof panel with steel beam supports. The building material consists of integral colored concrete masonry units (CMU), cast-in-place concrete walls, perforated metal panels, wall tiles and high-performance painted steel.

In the coming months, the Project Team will return to the community for additional feedback. Stay tuned for more information!
