Burlington Writers' Club Workshop
Saturday, September 11 | 10am-12noon EST
Alamance Arts
213 S. Main Street
Graham NC 27253

Please join us for a writers workshop on “Reading Aloud” with Mary Turner. Mary has degrees in speech and drama, and in theatre history and criticism. After working in the theatre, writing theatre criticism, and teaching theatre arts, Mary has discovered a hidden truth: all those classes she took in acting, speech, and oral interpretation of literature could be put to good, practical use not only by playwrights, but by writers of all sorts who are asked to read their work in front of an audience. Why not pick up some of those speech and acting skills to enhance the reading? She has developed this workshop for writers. Although we plan to meet in person at Alamance Arts, members will also receive a Zoom link and passcode by email. Guests who wish to join virtually can request an access code by emailing elizabeth.solazzo@gmail.com.

This event is made possible by the NC Arts Council, a division of the Department of

Cultural Resources through the Alamance Arts Council.

Poetry in Plain Sight
Thanks to so many North Carolina poets, the NCPS Poetry In Plain Sight has been successful in reducing our cache of vintage poetry posters. Since our inventory of PIPS posters in January was over a 1000, the reserve is now around 650. And we sell more every month. Poets and poetry lovers have purchased many posters, plus we have donated others to public schools in the state.  Sam Barbee, who is in charge of the project, has disposed of a few in poor condition and can assure all the posters are in good condition, and some are pristine. Remember, you can purchase any 2 posters for $10.00, plus additional posters (up to 8) for $1.00 each.

Here is the current inventory available of  posters for sale from NCPS:
