Fresh. Local. TOGETHER.

Come Rain or Come Shine
9.2.21
Dear Market Friends and Fans,

We hope everyone made it through the wet and wild visit from Ida this week! While our market is "rain or shine," we definitely prefer the latter. Unfortunately, our favorite vendor of fine fruits and veggies, Bechdolt Orchards, was unable to harvest for the market because of flooding at their farm. As a result, they will be missing from the market this Thursday. We wish them a speedy recovery in the drier days ahead so they may return next week with those beautiful crunchy apples and all their other products.
Wet weather makes things tricky for other vendors, too. Soggy bread is no good, so The Flour Shop will focus on grilling delicious paninis this week. Their usual offerings will return when conditions are more favorable.
You may notice a few other changes at this week's market. Because of long lines at the Lehigh Mail Center, we are rearranging our vendors a bit to give everyone a little more elbow room. Most notably, The Wicked Botanist will be relocating away from the front of the Mail Center, but will still be available to supply you with healthy green plants to enhance your office or living space.
As always, our vendors are grateful for your business, whatever the weather. Grab a friend and your reusable shopping bag* and meet us at the market!

If you have ideas to share or comments or questions about the Bethlehem Farmers' Market, feel free to drop us a line.

S is for Sustainability

Did you know that the Bethlehem Farmers' Market is part of Lehigh University's Office of Sustainability? As a result, our goals for the market include environmental stewardship--supporting local growers and producers and reducing reliance on single-use plastics, for example. In addition, we are committed to social equity and economic prosperity--creating a market space where all are welcome and able to access fresh, wholesome food.  We feel that human wellbeing needs to be at the core of any discussion of development. Our market includes live music as a way of supporting the local arts, too, and we welcome involvement by community groups with similar missions to engage and educate our community. If your group would like to have an educational table at our market, see the market manager or contact us at bethlehemfarmersmarket@gmail.com to get on the schedule.
