Good afternoon, today's edition has a mix of news - not everything is Covid related - just to remind us that there is life outside of our current Covid bubble.

Congratulations to Northland as they move into Alert Level 3 tonight.  For those in Auckland, hang in there and keep following the rules to stay safe.

DO YOU CROSS THE BORDER FOR WORK?  PLEASE GET A COVID TEST

If you or any of your staff are crossing back and forth between Level 4 and Level 3 to come to work, or as part of your operations, the Director General of Health is asking that all these people get a Covid test within the next 3-4 days. In addition they are looking at implementing a system for regular testing of people crossing the border.  You can click here to access a list of locations where you can get tested.

WAGE SUBSIDY ROUND 2
Applications for the second wage subsidy open at 9 am tomorrow morning to cover the next two weeks.  The criteria is the same as the previous one - a drop of at least 40% in revenue over a 14 day period.  The period being measured is 31 August to 13 September and the comparator period is the same as it was in Round 1 - a 14 consecutive day period in the 6 weeks immediately before we went into Level 4.

LEAVE SUPPORT PAYMENT/SHORT TERM ABSENCE PAYMENT
Just a reminder for those of you not eligible for the wage subsidy - if you have staff that are required to isolate because of potential exposure to Covid, or those awaiting a Covid test result you can apply for the Leave Support Payment or the Short Term Absence Payment.

MOTOR VEHICLE REIMBURSEMENT RATES

If you reimburse staff for private use of their motor vehicle using the IRD rates, please note that these have gone down in 2021 following a review of the cost of running a vehicle. The rates are now as follows:

Vehicle Type Tier 1 Rate per km Tier 2 rate per km
Petrol or diesel 79 cents 27 cents
Petrol hybrid 79 cents 16 cents
Electric 79 cents 9 cents

The Tier 1 rate covers the business portion of use for the first 14,000 km the vehicle does in a year, and then it moves to the Tier 2 rate.

FOR THE LOVE OF PRINT
And now for something completely different that should provide us all a feel-good moment, click here to download a copy of Print's Best In Show at the Cannes Lions Awards.  This showcases some outstanding print campaigns from the previous year and provides some excellent case studies on the creativity and value of print.  Read them, enjoy them, and share them.

Cheers
