BRIDGEPORT ART EXHIBIT IN TORRINGTON
OPENS FRIDAY!
AIRPLANES AND DIRT NAPS, 20 yrs after 9/11 and surviving Covid

A confluence of artists connected to Bridgeport, make a brief stop in Torrington. Works share commonalities regarding aesthetic and imagery, tempering stark reality with nostalgia, absurdity and humor.

This exhibit of healing and memorial runs 9/3 to 9/12/21 at Five Points Annex Gallery, Torrington CT, gallery hours TH-Sun 12-5 with a gathering and exhibit reception on Sat. 9/11 from 4-7 pm.
Exhibiting artists are: Carlos Bautista Biernnay, Dan Makara, Iyaba Ibo Mandingo, Mark Rich, Scott Schuldt, with words of healing by Rev. Ina Anderson.

THIS EXHIBIT IS A MUST SEE!
Although there will be an online version, there is no comparison to seeing the works in person. Face masks required.

The exhibit recognizes this extraordinary time in history, to process feelings and acknowledge the fallout of recent hardships, challenges, alternative facts, and protests, that tested beliefs, relationships, and loyalties, exposing who we are, and what we need to mend and cherish.

To encourage the art of spoken stories, City Light Gallery presents a monthly online community gathering named, “The Bridgeport Art Trail Story Exchange” hosted by Nina Lesiga. This FREE Zoom session meets the first Thursday of every month from 7pm -9pm.

We invite tellers and listeners!
What kind of stories? The emphasis is personal stories to share the human experience. Participants with fictional or historical stories are welcome too! We encourage professional tellers, amateurs and listeners to join us. During the exchange participants share a story, a part of a story, a story idea or attend just to listen. Test out a piece, receive help developing it if you wish and listen to the stories of others. Discover what makes a story compelling.

Celebrate with BPT this Saturday! Enjoy the Greater Bridgeport Symphony at the brand new Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater for an evening of pops favorites and experience live music outdoors at the amphitheater.

On Thursday, September 2, the Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) will reopen the Burt Chernow Galleries and the Museum with a grand collective exhibition: Big Art Bash 2021.

The wide-ranging group show will feature FOUR exhibits of work by Jon Schueler, Jongil Ma, Eric Chiang and an exhibition that explores male dominance of women. The public is invited to attend this exciting, FREE opening event from 5:30pm - 7pm, which will include live music by the Joe Mennonna Trio and light refreshments. HMA is located on the Housatonic Community College (HCC) campus, located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in Bridgeport, CT.

The Housatonic Museum of Art is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibit, Lost Man Blues: Jon Schueler – Art and War, curated by Marissa Roth. The show will feature twenty-six paintings and selected writings by the esteemed, prolific American abstract expressionist that reflect his war experiences. The exhibition, which takes its title from a piece commemorating the disappearance of a plane belonging to his squadron, will open on September 2 and be on view through October 8, 2021.

Curator Marissa Roth will offer a talk on Thursday, September 2 at 6pm.

Grants will be awarded for both new business concepts and for plans to expand an existing business within two stages: Venture Enterprise (scalable, capital intensive, large market) and Personal or Service Business (limited market, small cap). Additional awards for selected finalists include vouchers for 6 months at an incubator or co-working space for the price of one month at MOCO Coworking.
