Hello, what's up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter.

With Austin in Stage 5, this week we are only listing events that we believe to be outdoors, or to have significant outdoors components. This means leaving off some fun stuff, but still including the final night of the Long Center's summer concert series, the first night of the Long Center's film series, the closing night of aGLIFF's LGBTQIA+ film festival, the re-opening of beloved DIY venue Electric Church, and a Jane Fonda-themed evening with performance artist/workout aficionado Erica Nix. Scroll down for all this and more.

If you're not already a subscriber to this newsletter, click here. Also, please support us by forwarding this email to your friends who enjoy things like listening to music and leaving the house sometimes.

Let's do fun stuff!

DJ Stuff

Due to Covid, we are taking a little time off from No Lights No Lycra, our weekly dance party in the dark. We plan to return to the dance floor on September 20 with an exciting, creatively inspiring partnership with Art Island. Tickets are on sale now. Keep your eye on this newsletter and/or like NLNLATX on Facebook or Instagram for further updates on both streaming and in-person dancing.

In the online world, No Humans Allowed, Brian's weekly internet radio show on Kpiss.fm, created a musical Flow State Simulator to help us get work done with all the distractions that 2021 has had to offer. You can stream it from the Kpiss archives. Also as a bonus this week, episode 67 of the show, a guest DJ set by Kpiss' own Doctor Mister spinning lots of vaporwave, is up now too.

What is No Humans Allowed?
Brian Blackout's weekly robots-themed radio show on internet station KPISS.fm. Machine vibes 4 machines. Songs for robots, androids, mandroids, cyborgs, AIs, cylons, skinjobs, roombas, wifi routers, smart devices, anything colored Bondi blue, and virtual assistants. Humans not required. Broadcasts live every Wednesday at 10pm on kpiss.fm, with over 50 episodes now streamable in the archives on topics like and Beach Simulations, Roomba dance parties, concrete jungles + Cyber Texas.
How do we choose which events to feature?
Honestly, it's pretty random. We might include anything in Austin that we, personally, would conceivably want to go to, generally excluding normal concerts, comedy shows, and movie showtimes because there are many other good resources for finding those. (We especially recommend Showlist for live music, dance.atx for DJs, and 101+ Weird Austin Things to Do for exactly what it sounds like). This list is by no means exhaustive; it's just stuff that caught our eye this week. If you have an event that you want us to consider including, send it over.

Who are we?
We make this newsletter. We put on No Lights No Lycra each week. We do some other stuff here and there. We love going out to creative events in Austin, and we want you to join us. Visit us at liteandbriteatx.com.
SEE YOU NEXT WEEK, CHAMPIONS.
