Cambridge Repair Lab

Need something fixed? Come and learn some repairing skills and stop throwing good things away.

Our next Repair Lab is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 18 September from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the Town of Cambridge Administration Centre.

Repair Lab is a community initiative to help people fix their belongings, keep items in the system and reduce the burden on recycling, and ultimately save things going to landfill. Skilled volunteers will help you with repairs of clothing, textiles, bikes, furniture, jewellery, electronics and electrical, and general household items. If you're unsure, bring it down and we'll see what we can do!

If you have skills – we would love to welcome you as one of our volunteers.

When: Saturday 18 September, 27 November | 10.30am – 12.30pm

Where: Cambridge Administration Centre, 1 Bold Park Drive Floreat

 Creating Wildlife Havens in Suburbia

Wildlife havens serve a number of purposes including protecting wildlife and helping animal populations thrive.

Wildlife havens are designed to attract native animals like birds, frogs, lizards, bees, butterflies and other creatures. By creating a wildlife haven in your garden, you’re potentially providing a home, food, protection, or just a nice place to visit for our beautiful wildlife.

This workshop focusses on suburban eco-systems, bird life, insects, and creating wildlife corridors and havens in our gardens.   Attendance at this workshop qualifies you for a rebate against the purchase of a bird bath of your choice.

When: Thursday 23 September | 6:30 – 8:30pm

Where: Town of Cambridge Administration Centre, 1 Bold Park Drive Floreat

Cost: Free

Charity Drop Off Day

It is time to start thinking about our next Charity Day!

  • Bedding, linen and blankets
  • Shoes, boots and slippers
  • Homewares, including Games, Toys, DVD’s CD's

 Kintsugi Workshop

The Kintsugi method is an age old way to minimise waste to landfill

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken ceramics back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art.  Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the "scars" as a part of the design.

This workshop includes a gold repair kit with all necessary equipment and artist tuition.

When: Thursday 21 October | 6:30 – 8:30pm

Where: Cambridge Administration Centre, 1 Bold Park Drive Floreat

Cost: $75 payable prior to workshop commencement
